Finding my passion
The other day I was listening to a friend of mine talking. He was sharing with me how much he loved Mexico and the people there. He would just light up as he described what it was like to live there, how friendly the people there are.
I told him he should go back there, it sounded like it would make him happier than living in the States.
As I said that to him it dawned on me that lately I don't have anything that really lights me up. I seem to have lost my passion for life. This got me thinking and I made a decision that one of my goals for 2009 is to find my passion and my people.
He reminded me as I shared this with him that find my passion and everything else will follow.
So....
one of my intentions for 2009 is to Find my passion
I must say that 2008 was quite a year for me. My husband had two heart attacks, an open heart surgery, 5 way bypass and we lost our house.
I would like 2009 to be a better year for sure!

2009 Intentions
other intentions for this year

The new year has just started and with it a fresh beginning. A time to reflect on the past year and to look ahead and make new intentions for this year.
Making intentions always excites me because I see them as something that will come true.
Some other intentions I have for the new year are:
* To be healthier
When I was younger I did gymnastics and I always felt great. Most of my thirties I loved to go out dancing. (I am 38 now) I have not done much dancing however in the past two years because my health has been weird. Dancing is a great way to tone and burn calories, as well as have fun and feel alive! I love to dance and will incorparate that into my life this year. I am doing E.F.T. to help with health issues which are surprisingly going away within days after two years of hanging around which is so cool. I got where I was breathless going up stairs and now after three days of E.F.T. I can go upstairs almost running and not get breathless.
* To exercise more
* To be more creative
* To move into a home with a bathtub

The last one might seem like a strange intention but last year when we moved, I moved from a home with a great master bath to a house with no tub in the master bedroom and I miss the rejuvenation and meditation of a warm bath. Baths are an important part of nurturing oneself. They can be both cleansing and healing.

(This is me in the bathtub I left behind this year. My youngest daughter took this picture of me for fun (for her) one day before we moved.)
This brings me to another intention.
* Be good to myself. Treat myself kindly. Be generous to myself.
I believe when we are good to ourselves we will be good to others. When we are not good to ourselves we are not good to others either. There are exceptions to this rule, but on the whole it tends to go this way.

Having an attitude of gratitude

I believe it is important to take note of what we are grateful for in our life.
Life can bring sad times, hard times and bad times, but there is always something to
be grateful for.
I remember when my husband (now ex husband) was in the hospital having had a heart attack. I was full of fear, sadness and grief over worrying about him. I went to the waiting room on one occasion, something I rarely did because I usually was in his room, but on this day I went to the waiting room.
There was a lady sitting across from me who looked like she was camping out in the there. She was upset. She ended up telling me her husband had a heart attack and never woke up, that machines were keeping him alive. My perspective immediately changed and I felt lucky my husband was not that bad. I told her I was sorry and prayed for her. I went from feeling bad for my situation to feeling bad for this lady I had just met.
Another man who was my husband's roommate for a few days went into surgery for a similar one as my husband but when he came out he did not wake up. I believe he had a stroke sometime either in surgery or after. His blood pressure went way too high. Again I felt grateful that my husband came through his surgery okay.
I felt blessed and lucky.

Albert Einstein says:
"There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle."
Life truly depends on how we view it.
I like to remember to be grateful.

A quote that inspires me
by Marianne Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

- Hi Patricia! Thanks for sharing your wonderful, heartfelt sentiments. What I notice in your lenses is what I would call passion... maybe you're already living your passion, and simply haven't recognized it because you have an expectation that you "should" feel different, or do something different... just something to consider. Notice how many people have read and enjoyed this lens...
