- 1-2-3 REVIT: BIM for Interior Design [1 of 3]
- Discussions about BIM (building information modeling) typically focus on the design of the outside of the building and the many benefits BIM brings to that aspect of architectural design. We read about massing models and curtain walls, expressive roof forms and detailed wall sections. But what about the inside of a building -- the finishes, the fixtures, the area requirements, the furniture schedules? Does BIM make a difference there?
- 1-2-3 REVIT: BIM for Interior Design [2 of 3]
- Last month we began our exploration of how BIM (building information modeling) is being applied to interior design -- enabling designers to quickly and easily model and visualize the inside of a building. This month I'll focus on how interior designers can use BIM to capture and manage their design ideas as multiple options within a single building model.
- 1-2-3 REVIT: BIM for Interior Design [3 of 3]
- This month, let's examine how interior designers can take advantage of the data stored and managed within the building model. The data embodied by BIM is fundamental for tasks throughout the interior design process: early design activities such as schematic space planning and master scheduling; the accuracy of detailed design activities like quantification and costing; and finally for the production of well-coordinated documentation.
