We have 3 internationally adopted grandchildren, Russia, China and Guatemala. That's amazing the top 3 on your 2006 survey below. It has been a wonderful journey.

Angel blessed for the section on positive adoption language. Thanks for saying what I have wanted to say forever. The lens is great but I so appreciate you speaking for the parents who have put up with comments that somehow demean the process. Great job!

What a lovely and indepth lens on international adoption! 5*, my faves and lensroll for you. You've certainly done your homework for the rest of us, and it's appreciated so much.

Thanks to Madonna, the adoption process in Malawi is coming along. I know of one that's final, and one's in the works. My friends are working with lawyers, but there's NO agency to be found; so people are definitely setting precedences.

Please keep up the good work! :-)

A very nice lens. I have featured it on my lens about Maria Sue Chapman, adopted Chinese daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman. She was tragically killed in a car accident in May 2008. You can read more about her at http://www.squidoo.com/mariasuechapman.

Wonderful story! There are sites that offer affordable financing for adoption loans for people looking to adopt, but can not afford the expenses involved.

I just started my own my lens on this topic and I love what you have done with yours. Keep up the good work.

    I'm a "chosen child" , adopted 40 years ago.
Adopted children want to be accepted as part of the family not just an add on.My Mother took great pleasure informing all that I was a "chosen" child.I hated the label then and still do. Adopted children don't want to be reminded that they are different.

This is a truly helpful lens! I am looking into international adoption and don't know where to start. We haven't been married long, so we have to wait at least a year, but I'm excited and want to learn everything now! Thanks for the lens. Great job!

I'm so glad you mentioned adopting older children. One of the reasons I ended up with my adopted parents is because they were open to taking an older child. If you would like to hear a story from an adopted child perspective I'm writing about it on my blog. http://anasmiracle.blogspot.com great lens

Great Lens - I would like to offer you another adoption resource to post for people located in the North East US. It's Wide Horizons's for Children: http://www.whfc.org, a wonderful international adoption agency in Massachusetts. But I can't find a way to contact you directly on this lens!
