Internet affiliate marketing programs have been around for many years now, and they're still one of the best ways to get started earning a substantial income online. In this module, I'll explain how to find some of the best programs available and how to get started with them. You won't found a huge amount of detail here - I just want to help to get you started.

So what then, are Internet affiliate marketing programs? Consider the situation where someone creates a product (usually a digital one, such as an eBook, but this is also true for hard goods). If the person that created the product then tries to sell it on their own, they would have to be an amazing salesperson to make serious money. But what if 10 people sold it on their behalf and took a percentage of the sale as a commission? What about if thousands sold it in like this - all taking a commission? These people would all be known as "affiliates" - they're selling someone else's product, and being paid a percentage to do so.

Often, you'll also find multi-tier affiliate programs - usually consisting of 2 levels. In such cases, you would have a smaller number of people who are really good at finding OTHER people to sell the end goods. These people would typically get a smaller percentage, but they'd get that percentage from the sales of everyone that THEY recruit to do the selling for them. The sellers on the other hand, would still receive similar levels of commission as with single-tier programs.

If every producer who created an affiliate program only promoted it from their website, you can see that they'd still have to be pretty good sales people in order to recruit a significant number of affiliates. Because of this, affiliate marketplaces have sprung up which allow product creators and affiliate marketers to find out about each other and in most cases, even handling the payments on their behalf. I'm going to talk about a few of these shortly.

What's The Attraction For The Affiliate?

Think about it - if you want to promote your own product, you first of all have to create it, then package it, then promote it, then handle payment process, then deliver it, and finally, you have to support it! As an affiliate, all you have to do is promote someone else's product, then sit back and let someone else have all the hassle! How can you lose???

Let's have a look at some of the possibilities to get you started:

Clickbank
Clickbank is probably the most well-known and wide-spread of all! It's been around for many years now and is well established, with many thousands of products available for the you as an affiliate marketer to promote. Many people will simply stick with Clickbank as their primary affiliate source as there are so many products to promote! They have a straight-forward, proven means of creating affiliate links for you which you can use to for your promotions, as well as a solid payment system.
If you're looking for a one-stop-shop, this is it!

PayDotCom
This is a more recent development that was setup to address certain aspects of Clickbank that some publishers weren't happy with. From the publishers side, it's significantly more flexible than Clickbank and hence more powerful. For us as affiliates, it's a great program to consider and is gaining in popularity at an amazing pace!

Amazon
Amazon (and their country specific subsidiaries) offer their 'Associates' program, which is in effect an affiliate program for selling books from their catalog. Just like electronic products promoted through the previous two marketplaces, as an Amazon Associate, you don't need to worry about the shipping etc - Amazon takes care of everything for you. They also have some other cool tools such as their aStore which helps you to build ever more creative promotions.

Once you find your preferred Internet affiliate marketing program, spend some time reading the various guides that they have available. These will teach you how to promote the products that they offer for maximum profit - just make sure that any advice you take is up to date!

I've been interested in Internet marketing for quite a few years now. Despite the fact that I've made very little money so far, one thing I HAVE learned is how to spot the difference between useless information, and fantastic information. In this article, I'll be reviewing the Lee McIntyre newsletter (http://leemcintyrenewsletter.com/) which I can reveal falls into the second of those two categories!

To be honest, I pretty much found this website by accident and was surprised to find someone in the current market offering something for free! If this information had been written by anyone other than Lee McIntyre, I would have almost certainly dismissed it. However, since I'm a fan of his blog, I know that Lee is a good guy who on the whole, provides good, solid information.

With this in mind, I was comfortable enough to part with my name and e-mail address in order to get access.

The subscription process itself was as painless as it possibly could be, and quite a bit better than most other sign-up procedures! Rather than simply landing on a confirmation page from his autoresponder, Lee has gone to the trouble of designing a far more inviting page which describes the process in a much nicer manner.

After going to my email and clicking on the confirmation link, I ended up on the anticipated OTO (one time offer), which to be fair, sounded quite interesting. However, instead of having to scroll to the bottom and say "no thanks", then being drowned by a deluge of repeated offers as is rapidly becoming the norm today, Lee is kind enough to place a resource box at the TOP of the page where a sizeable collection of back issues can be downloaded. This practice should be encouraged as in my opinion, there's nothing worse than having to scroll and click past 3 or 4 pages of offers once you've already given away your email address, just to be able to access the product that you originally requested.

It's also worth noting that I only signed up to receive new issues of the newsletter - the 15 back-issues are simply an added bonus!

Having studied the back-issues, I can honestly say that I was amazed at the content! You can clearly see the trend from where Lee started out and the content was relatively light (but still great) to more recent editions which are more substantial. My only niggle was that they don't seem to be the most recent 15 editions (the last one been from the end of January 2008), but then they do contain an further 8 free products which I found no mention of on the sales page!

Still, I can understand that you too, just as I was, would be reluctant to part with your email address for something that's free (which we'd therefore expect to have little or no value). All I can say is that since registering, I have only received great content without any marketing hype and that I've got tremendous value out of whatever I've received.

In summary, I'd like to focus a few key areas to help you to assess the product:

Value For Money
Since this is a free product, you'd be forgiven for assuming that it has no value or that it's just another marketing tool to capture your email address. I can assure you that in my opinion, it's just the opposite and frankly I'm amazed that Lee hasn't started charging a substantial monthly fee for this information!

How Easy Is It To Follow?
If you're already familiar with Lee's work, you'll know that as a former school teacher, he has a style that's really easy to follow. This makes his newsletter a pleasure to read.

None - apart from an email address! :)

Does it Work?
It's to soon for me to say for certain yet, however I CAN tell you that when Lee says that something doesn't work, I can vouch for this up with my own experience! The other things that he writes about sound plausible and I'll be trying them out on my own websites as soon as possible. Watch this space for update...!

Would I Implement It?
Some of it, for sure - it's a collection of strategies and practices rather than just one thing. I will though, be implementing the appropriate ones whenever I get the chance, as well as putting some of the additional bonus material to work!
