Internet Anonymity, Privacy and Security

Internet privacy consists of privacy over the media of the Internet: the ability to control what information one reveals about oneself over the Internet, and to control who can access that information. Simply stated, online privacy is one's right to restrict what personal information is revealed through the use of the internet. The internet is a vicious place and while your personal computer is connected to it, your online privacy is at a constant risk. Account hijacking, hacking, unauthorized installation of malicious software, and online identity theft, are all risks to our online privacy. There has been an explosion in the size and number of social networking sites, resulting in some privacy issues. Online privacy is an issue of constant debate. Every internet user should have more concern over the online privacy. Privacy protection tools provide anonymous browsing (hiding the IP address, your computer identity on the Internet) and online privacy (cleaning all internet traces that result from visiting various websites). Here are some resources, including media coverage and links to organizations and related publications about online privacy issues.
