How to get Backlinks

Over 25 Ways to Gain Valuable Website Backlinks
Constructing a website for a business is only the first part of attracting your online customers. There are many factors that determine your position on the search engine results page, one of them being the quality and quantity of your inbound links. In order to increase traffic and gain a good web rank your website should have a significant amount of backlinks. These backlinks should connect with valuable, authoritative, and industry related websites. Gathering backlinks should be a top SEO priority because without them it can be extremely hard to move up in the search engine results or generate more website visibility.

Domain Names and URLs

Choosing a Great Domain Name and Creating Friendly URLs
One of the most important elements of creating a website is selecting a proper domain name. A domain name is commonly part of a larger Internet address called a "URL". Having the right domain name for your website can significantly help establish an online reputation and generate greater visibility. Domain names give both the human visitors as well as the search engines the first description or impression of the website. Choosing a domain name can often be just as important as deciding the name of your business and should not be taken lightly. Finding a successful domain name will require time, patience, and creativity. The following tips are designed to assist in creating successful domain names.

Using Strategic Keyword Placement to Amplify SEO Results

Using Strategic Keyword Placement to Amplify SEO Results
One of the most important and easiest Search Engine Optimization concepts is keyword placement. SEO Keyword placement refers to the integration of targeted keywords into locations on and off the webpage. Keywords or key phrases are generated to represent the terms that users search for when trying to locate your company and website. A website using the wrong or inaccurate keywords is as equally bad as a website that ignores keywords all together.

META TAGS: Are they Important?

Meta Tags: Do They Still Matter, If So Which Ones? - Click to read the full article
Are Meta Tags helpful? Meta tags are usually used for Search Engine Optimization and are thought to help web crawlers index your pages more accurately. Although at one time Meta tags held tremendous value for website ranking they no longer carry the same importance. Over time, less and less weight has been assigned to Meta tags due to their manipulation and user abuse. Eventually websites began to perform keyword stuffing (excessive use of keywords) and listed irrelevant information in their Meta tags to try to attract and mislead traffic to their pages. As users caught on to the black hat SEO techniques for Meta tags the search engines started to divert their attention and place more emphasis on actual content. Shifting their focus allowed the search engines to evaluate web pages appropriately based on visible content rather than depending on a Meta tag to deliver accurate information.

Google Panda
Dealing With the Aftermath of Google Panda Update Version 2.2
February 24, 2011 Google introduced its new method for evaluating the quality of a website. According to Search Engine Land Google had also just recently released its newest version (Panda 2.2) sometime during June.

WordPress 3.2: What to do Before Upgrading

WordPress 3.2 Gershwin

Prior to last year's release of WordPress Version 3.1, WordPress announced that 3.1 would be the last version to support PHP 4 and MySQL 4. Using a Facebook "Like Gate" to gain Customers

Facebook Like Gate

Could your business benefit from utilizing a Facebook "Like-Gate"? A year ago most people were unfamiliar with the term Like Gate and those who were familiar with it probably where critics. The primary reason for why this technique first caused controversy was because it basically begs and bribes someone to like your Facebook page. Additionally this technique also faced criticism because it only ensures the initial "like" and doesn't necessarily generate loyal customers. Nonetheless it seems to have now become one of the more common practices for businesses on Facebook. The concept behind a fan/like gate is to offer exclusive content to your Facebook visitors once they have "Liked" your page.

Submitting Updated URLs with the New "Fetch as Googlebot" Feature

Submitting Updated URLs with the New "Fetch as Googlebot" Feature
Google's Webmaster tools now provide users with a new way to submit new or updated URL's for Google indexing. The fetch as Googlebot feature allows users to identify individual URL's and submit them to Google's crawl schedule for index consideration. Unlike the other methods of URL submission the Googlebots will crawl the submitted pages usually within one day of their submission. Although the response time is faster Google will still use the same selection process when considering a URLs inclusion in their index. The Fetch as Googlebot helps Google discover a web page faster but like its natural discovery process there is no guarantee that the page will be included in their index.

On Tuesday June 28, 2011 Google announced that they are very close to launching their new social network called Google +. Not to be confused with Google +1, the new Google + is a social network that is currently in a "field trial period" with a limited number of testers. Although there is no news available regarding the interaction between Google +1 and Google +, it seems logical that eventually the two Google services will somehow be used to complement one another. The goal of Google + is to bring more humanity or emotion to the world of online sharing and interaction.

The foundation of Google's social network feels similar to other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. From the looks of it, Google + appears to incorporate the basics of social networking that we have grown comfortable with and even manages to offer a few unique and innovative features. Users can expect the following features to be included on the Google + Social Networking website following the trial testing period.

However it is suggested that you perform updates as frequently as possible in order to prevent your website from looking dated and losing your valuable web traffic. It is recommended that you try to update your website at least 1 to 2 times a month. These weekly or monthly updates should be designed for only adding or refreshing content unless the entire website's design is fatigued. As long as you develop a site that is both visually appealing and easily accessible then your primary updates should focus solely on your content.

7 Reasons Why Social Media should be used to Enhance SEO Not Replace It
Most people can agree that social media has drastically changed the way businesses perform online marketing. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have provided businesses with the resources to create detailed portfolios and interact freely with their customers. Some companies even believe that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is no longer important and social media should be their main focus. Does SEO still matter? Social media sites have done a great job of connecting businesses with customers. However even with all the advantages that social media has to offer it shouldn't replace SEO. Instead social media websites should be thought of as a complement to SEO rather than its substitute.

FaceBook Scams

Top 4 Facebook Frauds and How to Avoid Them - InternetBeacon
Like most Internet based companies, Facebook continues to take steps to ensure the safety of its users. Even with all the effort made by Facebook, no amount of Facebook security protocols will eliminate every scam and every hacker. Vulnerabilities will still persist regardless which is why the best protection seems to depend on user awareness. Educating users to be aware the attacks while participating on social networking platforms could drastically help preserve the network integrity.

Facebook Dirty Tactics

Facebook Left Looking Embarrassed After Their Tactics Against Google Backfire - InternetBeacon

Following this post USA Today also confirmed that they had received a similar request.

Google Search Results Page

Google Testing a New and Cleaner Search Engine Results Page - InternetBeacon
Recently Google has begun testing a new search engine results page (SERP) with a limited group of Google users. It is unknown what criteria Google used to determine which users were given this opportunity and because there is no opt in for testing most users can only experience the new page via screenshots.

It remains unclear whether or not Google will further expand this sample testing or even continue in the same direction once they acquire usability feedback. Due to the limited testing being fairly recent no real results have been released other than the initial feedback from users that the new page is ugly or that it looks better, which really depends only on the users taste and not the designs usefulness.

Duplicate Content

How Duplicate Content Occurs and how to avoid Getting Penalized for It. - InternetBeacon
Search engines take into consideration a large number of factors when assigning a rank to a website. Although there are a number of factors that are obvious or specifically identified as ranking factors, the majority of the ranking criteria are kept private. Search engines avoid publicizing the exact pieces of the Search Engine Optimization puzzle that they use to determine a rank because it would most likely lead to a massive overflow of irrelevant search results.

You have a lot of really valuable information here that many people will find useful. I have a couple of suggestions that you might find useful. Add images to your modules. Images work two fold. 1.) Eye candy for your visitors. People love looking at nice photos & graphics. 2.)SEO - adding your keywords or keyword phrases to your image alt tags helps tremendously telling the search engines what your lens is about. Did you know that often people will find you through an image search more than they will by a text search?

You should add a link to your service in Maryland in your "Intro module". This is prime real-estate and you should have your own bolded link with an "alt" tag to the website you are promoting. Hope that helps.

Tips for Cold Calling Prospective Clients

Cold Calling

Cold calling is the marketing technique of reaching out to possible future customers via the telephone. The term cold is used because the potential buyers are not expecting to be contacted nor have they had any prior communications about the product. Cold calling is the opposite of warm calling which is where the potential client directly expresses their interest in your services. Companies that warm call their customers typically gather information using post cards and website information surveys or subscriptions. Compared to warm calling, cold calling relies much more on guess work, calling the right person at the right time, having the right solution, and a little bit of luck.
