An Emerging Popular Abstract Artist

Ranked #25,593 in Arts & Design, #633,724 overall

About

I am an fine art collector searching the world for artwork that shimmers with something special. This lens is about one of my favorite abstract artists, Jaison Cianelli. Jaison Cianelli is an emerging artist, and he is gaining popularity with the help of the internet and I felt compelled to interview him and write this lens. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jaison Cianelli on the phone and asked him a few questions about what makes his work so unique.

Jaison Cianelli

Popular Emerging Artist

Jaison Cianelli's artwork is uplifting and offers a unique style with texture that can only exists in his work. It is almost like controlled paint splatter. My favorite work of his are his abstract landscape paintings. He creates with so much expression and color. He uses inspiration from nature and conjures feelings and emotions. He is not shy with paint. Acrylic paint is poured, dripped, and flung.  Layers and texture are built up this way.  Jaison wants the viewer to feel the joy that went into creating his paintings. Literally! He told me that he wants the viewer to reach out and touch them.

In his career Jaison has had only a handful of group exhibitions yet his internet sales seem to be doing well amidst a troubling economy. Jaison has exhibited mainly in America, specifically Fort Lauderdale FL, Newport RI, and Manchester NH. But he owns and operates Cianelli Studios Online Art Gallery where his work is displayed to the world. Jaison told me that besides creating art, his focus is getting it seen online. And this involves using new marketing techniques and search engine optimization. Rather than ship his paintings to various fine art galleries, Jaison keeps the bulk of his work right in his studio and hangs them in his own home. When he sells a painting via his online art gallery he ships the painting to the customer and avoids any middle man.

Interview

"Above The Clouds" by Jaison Cianelli

What do you like about running the online art gallery?

"Traditionally there is not a lot of communication between artists and buyers. It's great because I can personally answer questions people have about my work. I enjoy explaining what I was feeling during a particular painting and I would never get to if I did not have the website. It's important for me to stay in touch with those interested in my work. I try to answer every email, I update my blog, I have a facebook fan page, and I write a newsletter. It's nice being in control too. I know who buys my work. I can also make sure that my work is not going to be damaged. Because galleries deal with so many paintings, they often damage artwork."

Can you comment on the difference between a person viewing the painting in real life and viewing it online?

"Obviously, nothing beats an actual painting hanging before your eyes. For this reason I will continue to have art exhibitions and be represented by a handful of galleries. But I have sold many paintings to people who never actually saw the artwork other than what was online. And not one of them has been unhappy. In fact it's quite the opposite, they all seem more excited to see it in person for the first time. To make sure buyers are happy it's important that the viewer is seeing an accurate image of the painting online. I do all I can to make sure that what I present online is accurate. Early this year I began adding a "more info" link to show alternate photographs of the painting including a perspective in an interior home setting. This is something an actual gallery cannot give you. "

What makes your artwork unique?

"My work is unique, there's no doubt about that, but there's more to it than that. I let my heart be my guide and my texturing processes take time and I take pride in that. I am not trying to create art for the sake of selling it. Each painting has a life of its own, its own little journey that only I know about. I think there are people out there that can sense that. My work moves them in some way and we share something together. It's wonderful to create something from within and find someone who appreciates it."
