Hidden Truths about Internet Income University
No hype factual review about IIU. Beware. Proceed with caution. While investigating this system, I learned some facts not reported elsewhere online and you might save a ton in time, money and frustration by knowing what this system entails BEFORE investing too much. Know what you are getting into beyond the common hyped claims. You might find IIU to be a scam after reading the report below and you might not, but here's a peek behind their curtain.
Table of Contents
Is IIU a Smart Investment?
Internet Income University is actually quite expensive in the long run.
Yes, the basic membership and training site is free. It's decent, pretty good actually in that it includes introductions to all of the basic components of a successful e-commerce business. If your primary objective with Internet Income University is simply to learn about internet marketing by taking advantage of their free training programs, the training itself is very good. However, before earning money in the IIU system, you will need to invest in many programs that are far from free. You won't earn a dime until you invest in membership with their chosen programs and then market them like crazy. Of course you can skip paying to join some of the programs if you like, however the advertizing will remain on your IIU website even if you opt out. You cannot choose on this... unless of course you take the time to learn their cPanel system so that you can then redesign the website yourself. If a person has the skills to build websites using cPanel, then why would that person even need IIU? Affiliate marketing is free and you can get web hosting for less than their fee easily.
So unless you learn to operate and maintain websites using cPanel, your website will market the entire IIU package whether you chose those programs or not and this is important - that means if a visitor to your site does choose to purchase one of the programs that you didn't pay to join - then that commission goes to someone else, even though they came to YOUR website. You OK with that? Not me.
About Replicated Websites
Google and the entire internet marketing world frowns on them.
IIU says it is your website, that you own it. Yes, but what you own is what is often referred to as a 'cookie cutter' or replicated website. It's a website that's been carbon copied and duplicated over and over again for whatever number of members they have at any given point. It's a website that not only is a carbon copy but one that doesn't often change in content, if ever. Search engines like Google and others frown on these replicated, cookie cutter type of websites, so getting organic traffic is nearly impossible. IIU Websites: "You OWN it" or DO you?
You pay for it, but IIU controls the content unless you want to learn cPanel.
The Internet Income University marketing will tell you that it is YOUR website, that you OWN it. You will certainly PAY for it, but if you actually owned it, then wouldn't you expect to have some control over what appears on your website? I would.
Consider this analogy... What if you bought a car, paid for it and paid regularly for the gas to make it move, yet never even sat in the drivers seat? You didn't pick the color or the style and there are a gazillion other cars out there just like it. It gets driven by others and makes money for others while you continue paying each month. Some of your dollars might trickle back to you, but the only control you have is the decision of how much more money to throw at the car. With an Internet Income University website, you pay for their marketing system to drive for you. IIU controls what appears on 'your' website.
Now if you WANT to control this you can do so IF you decide to learn to build and maintain a cPanel system. Do you? I suspect that most people who join IIU did so primarily to get the pre-built website, given they are new to internet marketing and there's SO much to learn. Very true. Yet if the only way to have control over the site is to learn the cPanel system, then what is the point of the IIU membership? Those who have those skills can build their own websites and choose their own affiliates for free.
There are several excellent sources of training to build cPanel websites, and ones that do so in a way that leaves the door wide open to YOUR choices rather than those of their system. I know of two right now that include step-by-step cPanel instruction with video, screenshots and personal interaction to take members through the process. I didn't write this review to suggest a 'better' program but rather to point out that systems such as IIU tend to take advantage of newbies by steering them toward their own affiliates with a heavy hand.
Bottom line, either learn cPanel or leave the site as it is. If you opt out of learning how to operate cPanel, then your only choice is to decide how much money to give IIU for more marketing on every link on the site which makes money for lots of people, but not you unless you bought into all of their programs. OK with you? Not me.

About Internet Marketing with LEADS
Scalable Advertizing with SEO Infinity
The IIU marketing machines are very slick and well-developed, and so even though your replicated IIU website won't likely get much search engine traffic, they know how to get traffic anyway using leads. You'll need those leads to get traffic, and they are not cheap. Your website might get some clicks and even conversions/sales, however here's the thing... Unless you invest in the entire IIU package, then this website that you own might just be earning $$$ for someone else, some other IIU member, most likely a person you've never met. Meanwhile even if your IIU website does manage to attract buyers, they will be caught inside the same very expensive replicated system that you are. You OK with that? Not me. Now let's look at the IIU affiliate streams and pricing for each below...
IIU Affiliate Revenue Streams in Detail
Learn the facts and actual costs associated with Internet Income University.
The website created for you will contain advertizing for each and every one of the income streams listed below. While it is called 'your website' you cannot choose what gets included there. Likely most IIU members do not pay for all of them. See how much of this list below might fit your budget.
- Internet Income University - Promote the 'free' membership to IIU.
- Secure Online Hosting - $14.95/month for website hosting. You have to join this one to get the website, then if you can sell others on this hosting company you can earn affiliate income. Many companies will host a website for less than $14.95/month.
- Market Samurai - $95 one time fee, a keyword research software product. It's good. but if you want it you can get it at this reduced fee without being a member of IIU.
- My World Plus (online shopping discount company) at $19.95/month
- Resorts 360 (travel discount group) minimum fee is $795/year and up to $9995/year!
- Protege Coaching - additional coaching for a fee toward success for IIU members.
- 'Scalable Advertizing' with SEO Infinity - This is how you get 'leads' to sell to, and while it appears to be a very slick and well-developed system, the entry price is $97/month with higher options up to $497/month. Oh and you can even buy in to this automated marketing system more than once if you like (ie. spend as much as you like on their automated system).
What IIU Really Costs
Lets crunch the numbers of what you might end up investing...
Let's assume you're on a budget (who isn't?) and need to start small, skip the big dollar items for now ( ex. travel club, high-end marketing, protege training).
* The $14.95 per month for hosting is a given, required for your website.
* Add to that $19.95/month for their online shopping discount club
* Add $97/month minimum for their 'scalable' advertizing to market your website.
* Add another $19.95/month for the autoresponder system (aweber) you'll need for advertizing
Just the very basics so far and we're up to ... at least $150 every month! And the amount above would pay for only TWO of their many income streams (chosen by IIU and NOT you!), so that's all you have the potential to earn from no matter how much marketing you do. You OK with that? Not me.

Mail from the IIU Power Marketing System
Clever power marketing messages will pour into your e-mail.
When you become a member of the Internet Marketing University, you will begin to receive a hoard of e-mail messages daily that are cleverly designed to get you to enroll in their programs, such as this..." IT'S TIME. When you first visited our website, we told you to put your wallet away, and just check out the power of our system and our incredible products while we PROVE to you that ANYONE can achieve results with this business. Well, guess what? WE DID IT. Since you toured the system, we have been placing people in YOUR TEAM that YOU have the opportunity to earn on EVERY MONTH. IN FACT, if you login to your site and click on GENEALOGY, you will see that people who were positioned in YOUR TEAM have already become FULL MEMBERS. That means, YOU HAVE ALREADY EARNED A COMMISSION by locking in your position. Just go to... but HURRY, do not delay! YOU NEED TO LOCK IN YOUR SPOT TONIGHT TO SECURE YOUR COMMISSION...otherwise ALL those members below you will jump ABOVE you and you will lose out on them forever."
Words like 'hurry, don't delay, lock in now or lose out' are red flags. Take your time, THINK about whether you really want to buy and then recommend this product by buying expensive leads to go to replicated websites.
Is IIU a Wise Internet Marketing Strategy?
Such 'feeder systems' encourage copycat websites that are not smart nor respectable internet marketing strategy.
Groups like IIU are sometimes referred to as feeder systems since they get large numbers of people to feed into their own interests and affiliate income systems. Your IIU website will be the same as thousands of others, not personal in any way and the content remains the same. IIU could easily have created the system so that only the programs chosen by YOU appeared on your web page. They know very well that most people will opt out of the top dollar programs, (for example the high-end travel club called Resorts 360) and yet that advertizing will appear anyway on each IIU member website. IIU does use a very slick marketing system, but do you want to pay money to market for some other website? Unless you can afford to invest in every single one of their programs (and few people can), or else learn to re-build the site, then sales to any programs you did not buy into will quietly be 'given' to someone else. You OK with that? Not me. Stop Falling for Hype
Does IIU Ring False to You?
It's not that the system won't work (it likely works quite well those who invest a ton of cash into it) or that it wasn't created by brilliant minds who DO know internet marketing. The creators know how the industry works all right, and have created a system in such a way to benefit from those who have little to invest. Since any website is worthless without traffic, members will likely make great effort to get traffic only to lose sales to their 'team' for any of the memberships they didn't personally pay for. Yet outside of IIU, becoming an affiliate is free AND you can affiliate with companies whether you bought their product or not. You get the traffic and convert it, you get the sale. Not with IIU!In this economy, more and more people are looking for opportunities, and the chance to make money online is wildly popular. While the guys who created IIU (the 'Blues Brothers') are obviously quite internet savvy and know the internet marketing industry well, I think they've created a system that mostly will take advantage of innocent consumers who are new to internet marketing and how to make money online..
Credible Affiliate Marketing
An editorial about being an affiliate marketer
Credible affiliate marketers recommend only products they've bought and used personally enough to know them well. They describe the features and benefits in detail and without hype. Their words are direct and to the point. They might even discussing possible shortcomings and how they overcame them, add value by describing things like how to install X product or similar tips.Affiliate marketing with integrity and credibility will be brutally honest. These marketers want no surprises down the road, for they care... about your experience and about their own reputation. They are active in quality online networks and value them and their fellow members. Credibility is about truth and mutual respect, for at the end of the day, what else matters?
Internet Marketing Report Card
...an internet marketing review website you can trust.
I've been an active member in the Internet Marketing Report Card (IMRC) online community since 2009. I've come to rely on that community a lot and refer to to it regularly before buying into anything related to internet marketing (person, product, service, bizop, etc). The community has grown considerably over the years. I read about the Internet Income University there, and the reviews were good. However, there was not much detail in any of the reviews about exactly how this system works (potential red flag), so I did my own investigation. Though I value Internet Marketing Report Card in general, I think the reviews were swayed on this one. I expect that in time the Internet Income University will lose steam as members add reviews with more specific facts and other programs of higher credibility rise to the top.

Many of the reviews about Internet Income University at from brand new IIU members who have had very little experience in making money online. Given that these people are brand new to internet marketing, they have really nothing to compare IIU to, no way to really know how to rate them. The bells and whistles and fancy systems are bound to impress newbies, they're designed to do so. More comments from veteran online marketers would make a more realistic review. New members are given the link and encouraged to post positive comments about IIU over at IM Report Card. So I see IIU members thwarting the system, yet IM Report Card is still more reliable than most for reviews of any product, service or person related to making money online.

Systems are *vital* to success.
But be sure that you are the master
and the system is your servant;
not the other way around.
IIU Not Recommended
At first the IIU looked like a great program, but once inside I was disappointed.
Before joining Internet Income University (IIU) I looked for just the type of information outlined on this page, and was unable to find it. I wanted to know about their upsells ('free' programs will ALWAYS have upsells or some agenda in mind) and to filter hype from fact, but did not find that information. This is due largely to the fact that scores of IIU members have published 'reviews' online in the hopes of selling others on it, so they all sound the same and all are followed by an affiliate link to lure you in.
Google is swarming in so-called 'review sites' that are bogus and full of hype. Most will offer a 'review' of X person, company or system and then call it a scam and/or criticize in some way, then offer another similar one with an affiliate link. The point being that there was an agenda in mind beyond an impartial review... 'Don't buy THAT, buy THIS instead' being the issue.
The idea of creating a supportive learning environment around a clever marketing system and strategy to make money online is one I value highly. No matter what you hear, ecommerce is not easy. Well developed internet marketing systems can be quite effective, especially when combined with a supportive online network. These systems include many important components, processes that must be learned and implemented. IIU is a clever marketing system that can get sales, but the key is - sales for WHO? Unless you invest in every component IIU recommends, then your ROI (return on investment) belongs to the IIU system itself rather than you. You OK with that? Not me.

Legit Make Money Online Programs
Find reliable ways to learn internet marketing and begin earning passive income.
Learning to make money online does NOT need to cost a lot of money. Depending on your own skills and experience with technology, it may likely cost you in TIME and discipline to stick with a quality mentoring program. I know how frustrating it is to invest time and money, only to be disappointed later.
Below is my own internet marketing toolbox of legit and valuable programs that remain there after many years of working online. I have personal experience with each and every one of the people, programs and tools and can recommend them without reservation.
Of all of my online tools, one I'd most highly recommend is the Chris Farrell Membership. The man is honest, fair, legit and an excellent teacher. His training leaves no stone uncovered in video webinars that don't just tell you, but SHOW you where to click and how to build your own successful web business. While not free, in the end you'd spend a very small fraction on this training than you would on Internet Marketing University, which CLAIMS to be free yet is anything but free. His membership site truly has everything you need to build your OWN website on any topic you choose, not a replicated website and not one that promotes other people. The support is reliable and friendly with high regard for each member.
If you must start out with a totally free program, when why not stay right where you are and join Squidoo? Squidoo membership is free and afffiliate marketing is free. This web platform is simple to learn with integrated tools that allow you to easily connect to products on amazon.com, eBay and other webstores. If you join, then contact me if you'd like to be connected to very active networks of professional Squidoo lensmasters who do earn money here everyday. You CAN make money online. Check out Squidoo. It's free!

- I was also a few clicks away. Marketing and salespeople get increasingly more sophisticated but in the end this is just another product that makes money for the inventors and a few lucky people who have the right combination of experience and skills (and money).
One thing I would like to advise, never ever trust a review from a website about themselves. No matter how bad a program is, you can usually find one success story, usually a friend or family member of the owners. Or just random actors. Or people who have an incentive to sell this product to you so they can make money.
If you are able to make money off this site, or are smart enough to program the site yourself, you could have easily just done all this yourself, the same way the Blues Brothers did.
Like this blog explained, you can find good affiliates, not these ridiculously overpriced ones, and you can build you own website or hire someone to build you a great one that you have full control. You can go around and shop for a good website that's just as easy as this place.
Most of the tools you need are all free or very inexpensive. They are located at the library and on the internet. Not on Get Rich Quick sites, but user reviewed sites by people who research the products and appear to have a thorough grasp of the subject matter. And also by many organizations like the SBA who exist to help people start a business the right way, not the scam way.
If it sounds too good to be true, it IS. If you want to make money, create a website that says someone will earn lots of money and you'll make money. Even if they get an empty box, you still make shipping right?
After looking at all these sites, I realize they are all the same. No matter what they promise, you can cut out all the middle men and do it yourself for very little money.
All that is required is a lot of time, effort, and learning (and lots of failure). They have a thing called a college degree, and they have something called a Business degree. There are people that spend 4-10 years getting a degree and still can't run a successful business.
There are no easy answers. Even the people who do get rich quick did so because they were able to grasp the important elements and just do it yourself.
Business is not just about training, learning quickbooks, and all the other stuff that can be taught. Other things be experienced and learned through trial and error.
If you lived in a cave and read about a flower your whole life, no matter how well that book describes the flower, you will never really know what a flower is really like without seeing a real one.
Business is the same. You have to experience it. Some people are good right away, others fail and give up, then then there's the ones who fail and keep going while trying to keep expenses at a minimum.
The fact is the information is out. Children are smart, they learn by example. You may tell them one thing, but if you are doing something different, they get confused. As adults we become conditioned to just believe authority and accept what they say.
Instead you need to read between the lines. What they are teaching you and telling you about how to make money is not the way THEY made their money.
They are not being forthcoming. You can clearly see they make money by selling their products and the advertising, all that could be obtained cheaper everywhere else.
It's like shopping for a car. Theres all different types and colors, and quality and price. Higher price doesnt always mean a better product. And you learn that you can avoid many levels of middlemen and buy the car directly from a manufacturer and sell it to someone else for a profit.
That is one small way to make money. Other ways are to offer services and information. Who knows, you have to be creative. And the internet will not make you money. It is just a marketing tool and you need to learn how to use it as such.
And if you want to learn that, then you need to research SEO. Step out of the darkness.
This stuff isn't that hard. You can do what these guys do. But they won't tell you how THEY did it, but they'll tell you how their customers did it, who may not even be real people.

- I was literally a "Click" away from buying in to IIU, when I decided to research. I am tired of the "vagueness" applied to these internet marketing sites. I truly believe with all my heart it is possible to make money online. Marketing to generate LEADS is the key. After that, do you believe in your product or service and do you provide good customer service.
