Internet Marketing is the online advertising of goods and services through the internet. It is mostly recommended for products that are used or known worldwide thus it might not be effective for locally used products. It is usually practiced by large companies aiming at a large market, its main target in most cases is the literate members of the society i.e people who are not computer literate may not be able to access products and services advertised through the internet thus they end up loosing out on products that can be of great impact to them. Internet Marketing requires proper packaging to be able to reach its target audience.

Types of internet marketing:

There are four major types of Internet Marketing used worldwide namely; seo,e-mail marketing, banner advertisement and affiliate marketing's marketing is the most affordable and widely used Website Marketing strategy. Here the products to be advertised are packaged with the audience interest at heart. Then there is-mail marketing which is mainly used by companies that have many clients therefore they inform them about the new products in their market. Is not the best internet marketing strategy for a company that is starting out because the information only gets to a specified number of people. Affiliate marketing is another marketing strategy whereby a business advertises through another well known business' website. The benefits are usually shared between the two businesses on the basis of commission. It is a good internet marketing strategy because it is cheaper compare to other types of internet marketing because the other business only pays a certain percentage of the profits to the other business depending on the agreement. Then comes the advertisement through the banner which requires company to place its advert on a specified WebPages according to the type of products and contents of the advertisement for instance if one is selling oil products the advert can be best placed on information on how to take care of your skin.

Advantages of internet marketing:

Internet Marketing has various advantages that make it suitable as a marketing strategy however expensive it may be. It is relatively cheap considering the impact it is expected to bring to the company. It is able to reach people in the international market thus most of the time it fully meets its target audience and has great impact to the audience. It is effective as compared to other forms of advertising like the newspaper whereby some other people don't get the message it ends up with certain people who may not be the actual target audience. Internet Marketing has the greatest impact to its audience, the use of online shopping has made it easier for clients to buy and inquire about certain products online. Its effectiveness can be immediately felt because advertising sites require one to press the advertisement icon for instructions on how to get the product or information about the product being advertised.

Disadvantages of online marketing:

Internet Marketing comes with fewer disadvantages because most of the time it reaches the target that it was meant for. It is difficult for the buyer to taste or experience the said effect of the product especially if its oil products or food products, thus one may end up buying products that may have a negative impact on him or her. It is expensive for a new company as is it will take time for its impact to be felt in the international market and get feedback. Some people say that internet marketing is wastage of money since one can go through the internet for various marketing strategies and then effect them because Internet Marketing is designed for much bigger international companies and products. Some people can use your site for selfish purposes like advertising their products on your site and others might make use of the available services for granted, e.g. calling the toll free numbers to inquire or order a product or service yet they are not ready to pay for the service or product. Some other users might not know how to access information from your website thus they end up with little or are misinformed about your products and services thus creating a negative impact on the company.
