There is something enormously appealing about the idea of creating a successful Internet marketing business.
Perhaps it's the idea of making money while you sleep and waking up to those "Congratulations you've made a sale" emails. I must admit they are a very nice way to start the day.
Perhaps it's because you want to work from home or ill health makes it difficult for you to get out and about elsewhere.
Or perhaps you just love the Internet and you want to turn a hobby into a profession.
Perhaps it's the idea of making money while you sleep and waking up to those "Congratulations you've made a sale" emails. I must admit they are a very nice way to start the day.

BEWARE - There Are Sharks About In Internet Marketing
The world of Internet Marketing is strange and wonderful.
It's exciting and things keep changing with new technologies pushing the frontier of what's possible.
Unfortunately it's a world inhabited by "gurus" eager for your cash and based on appealing to your hope for building a good life, they are eager to help you provided you handover your credit card.
There are rags to riches stories, the local small town boy who makes it big and earns a fortune... often apparently with little money, effort or skills.
There are some GREAT training programs for Internet marketing but they only work if you study hard and put what you learn into practice.
A lot of people seem to forget that - the feelings are great but you need to through into thinking and then purposeful action before you see the results you've dreamt of.
I hear too many stories of people investing in course after course spending their life's savings - $10,000, $20,000 sometimes even more - and with little to show for it at the end other than a pile of boxes filed with paper, Cds and DVDS and a hard disk stacked to the brim of downloaded mp3s and video.

Who Can You Believe In Internet Marketing?
That's a difficult question because of the vested interests.
One of the most common ways to make money on the Internet is something called affiliate marketing.
That means that there is a commercial relationship between the person making a recommendation or bringing something to your attention and the seller. They are effectively commission salesmen.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the USA has brought out rules to say that these relationships should be disclosed but that doesn't always happen and certainly not as clearly as you might wish.
Instead of saying
"I used Magic X and it was great. I recommend you buy it if you have the problem magic X solves"
you should be seeing the equivalent of
"I used Magic X and it was great. I recommend you buy it if you have the problem magic X solves and I am an affiliate (so because I will earn money if you buy after clicking on my link you may not want to trust my opinion 100%"
or if results are included
"I used Magic X and it made me $57,897 in just 11 days"
You should see
"I used Magic X and it made me $57,897 in just 11 days but my results are not typical. I have an email list of 357,000 people built up over the last eight years. I am an affiliate (so because I will earn money if you buy after clicking on my link you may not want to trust my opinion 100%"
I make a good proportion of my income from affiliate sales and see it as perfectly legitimate. It is no different from the salesman or the shopkeeper wanting to make it a profit and it doesn't cost you any more to buy through an affiliate link. Sometimes you can even get a better deal or generally I advise against bonus hunting on purchases. It's a distraction from the main event which is taking what you buy, working through the training, implementing is and achieving results.
If you think you can recognise affiliate links, beware as they are often disguised through similar sounding websites or redirects.
I guess what I am saying is buyer beware but also go with people who come across as honest and sincere,
Are they tuning into your goals and what's right for you or are they pushing product?
Do they identify potential weaknesses in the product or does it all sound too good to be true?
