When You Look in the Mirror, Do You See an Internet Marketer?
If so, who is that person staring back at you? Well, in the broadest sense, an Internet marketer is an entrepreneur who moves products and services from their various sources to the end user via the World Wide Web. Of course there are multiple subcategories that we'll be exploring through Internet Marketing Money.
Cyberspace is huge and growing more so every day. There are literally hundreds of ways an individual can engage in online marketing. A small business owner who decides to take his or her venture to the web effectively becomes an Internet marketer.
Likewise, an independent sales representative whose job is to set up new joint ventures for his or her company through online affiliates is also involved in Internet marketing. Web development firms that specialize in search engine optimization are certainly in the business of Internet marketing.
And the stay at home mom who sells her original dessert recipes from a MySpace profile is yet another example of an Internet marketer. But in many online circles, Internet marketing is also a noun used to refer to a specific niche within the home business sector.
The Internet marketing niche consists of affiliates, product owners, consultants, and coaches who broker marketing tools, business-to-business resources, and entrepreneurial information within a somewhat circular economy. In this case, an Internet marketer is a home business owner who participates in this internal exchange of goods and services.
There seems to be an almost limitless number of people worldwide who are looking to make their fortunes through this vehicle. Unfortunately, just as most miners found in the 1849 gold rush in the US, the majority will fail not through lack of effort but lack of knowledge. So, Internet Marketing Money is intended as a resource to help minimize those failures and increase the success of its readers as Internet marketers.

A Must-Have Mindset for Internet Marketers
The Will to Win is Crucial

There are many skills an Internet marketer must learn in order to succeed with his or her online venture, and there are numerous specialized tools that need to be understood to avoid falling off the cutting edge of the industry.
But the most important element of all for any Internet marketer is a winning mindset. Millions of people (literally) have tried to build a profitable online business and failed miserably. Regardless of excuses made or reasons cited by survey companies, the real reason behind most of this failure is an improper frame of mind.
The thing is, Internet marketing of any kind is hard work, and it's a real challenge. People who come into this game expecting push button riches overnight are generally bruised up pretty badly before being chucked out of the business and forced back to a day job. So, in order to prepare yourself for the challenge and ensure your success, you must adopt the following elements of a winning mindset:
Perseverance
Decide right now that you're going to make a great living with your online business no matter what or how long it takes. Look at yourself in the mirror and promise yourself that you will let nothing stand in your way or knock you down for good.
Realism
You're going to hit a few roadblocks. Some of them may even be pretty large. Count on it, and understand that it's part of the process. You might even find yourself in a situation where there appears to be no way to move forward. Get used to the idea of moving left or right in these cases and even zigzagging if you have to.
If you don't get frustrated to the point of crying - or at least really wanting to - during your first year, you probably aren't making any real progress. Again, this is part of your journey - so don't give up if you find yourself near the breaking point at least once or twice.
Scared? You shouldn't be - entrepreneurship wouldn't be much fun without these moments of extreme tension which you'll laugh about once you've made it big.
Total Optimism
Most of all you need to become a fanatic optimist. Don't see things the way they are, but rather see them the way you know they will turn out. Believe without wavering that your efforts will pay off and you'll be successful even beyond your greatest hopes if you just keep going.
Master these three qualities, and you'll be ahead of 95% of the wannabes who only dream about starting a successful Internet marketing business.

It All depends on the Type of Venture You've Chosen

What you need to do to get started in Internet marketing with your online business depends a great deal on the type of venture you've chosen to launch. Each specific model and strategy involves its own unique requirements.
But there are a few basic procedures that apply to just about any type of online business. Below is a detailed checklist you should review and complete to the best of your ability.
Choose a Business Model
Will you begin as an affiliate marketer, create and sell your own digital products, or become a web publisher? Consider the ups and downs of each model and choose one that fits your strengths.
Find a Niche
Before you select or create your products, you need to find a market segment that has plenty of active or "hungry" buyers with money. Importantly, you may have heard the expression, "if you build it, they will come." Well, that may work elsewhere, but it doesn't work with Internet marketing. You must find out what these hungry buyers want or need, and then provide it. Finally, by doing some basic keyword research and having a preliminary look at your potential competition you can get a good idea of how profitable a particular niche might be.
Ideally choose a niche that you enjoy and that has big profit potential. This gives you the best of both worlds; you can have fun and build an income at the same time. We'll go into much more detail in subsequent posts.
Set Up Your Payment Processing
It won't do you much good to market online if you don't have a way of either accepting direct credit card payments or receiving instant transfers from your affiliate managers. There are many different payment processors to choose from, or you can get a merchant account through your bank. PayPal is a popular option that is used by millions of merchants and buyers.
Develop Your Web Property
Will you work as an affiliate marketer from a portal like Squidoo.com or will you invest in your own custom web presence? This is an important decision, and if you decide to create your own site, you'll need to put a little money into a domain name, hosting account, and either a good design service or a site builder program.
Go Live and Add Traffic
Once you have your basic presence in place, it's time to start promoting at full speed ahead. To be successful with Internet marketing, traffic generation is an ongoing process that requires long-term commitment, so the sooner your start the better.
Set a daily schedule and task list, and stick to it. Stay focused, keep a positive attitude, and commit to constantly learning and growing. With the right tools for the job and a winning mindset, it's only a matter of time until you achieve the success you want with Internet marketing.
