Challenges of InterNETwork Marketing in Asia and How to Overcome Them

With Great Challenges Comes Great Opportunities

If you have read my bio, you would have known that I have spent the last 7 years deep in the MLM trenches of Asia where Network Marketing is hardcore old-school.

We here in Asia are so backward in the methods that we used to do network marketing that you will find it unbelievable.

A few examples to give you the feel of what is it like to do MLM in this part of the world:-

1) We do not use 3-way call systems or webinars to train our team.
If my downlines want me to talk to their prospect, I have to fly 3,000 kilometers from Singapore to China to talk to them face-to-face. Every month I spend 10 days in Singapore, 10 days in Malaysia and 10 days in China. The travel and hotel expenses alone are enough to burn a hole in even the deepest pockets.
(FACT: Most of us don't even know there is such as thing as desktop sharing applications, that can be used to share powerpoint presentations online...)

2) There are no MLM leads companies here
Even if you want to, there are no leads for you to buy. You must COLD CALL hundreds (in my case, I've cold-called thousands) to even remotely have a chance to succeed in network marketing.

3) There are virtually no internet search traffic for keywords like "MLM leads", "leads generation", "home based business" etc
If you want to use Google Adwords to generate some PPC traffic, you will quickly discover that you will get ZERO clicks per day for the above keywords. The reason being there is no such concept of lead generation in this part of the world. Every prospect is either cold-called or referred.

So what if Google Adwords is the world's best direct marketing machine ever conceived? In Asia, it's like you are the only person having a fax machine, and no one else to fax to!

And I haven't even start to go into the various cultures and languages you have to deal with in Asia. Nearly all SEO, keyword tools and landing pages of online prospecting systems are written for the English-speaking markets.

But with great challenges, comes great opportunities.

China now have more than 100 million internet users. Many of whom are internet savvy and white-collars with good spending powers to afford products and are excellent prospects as business builders. And I have noticed many are buying, selling and searching for products over the internet.

For InterNETwork Marketing to work in Asia, we really have to go back to basics, and start from there. After I read the book The Renegade Network Marketer by Ann Sieg, I have tried to put what I have learned into practice, have gotten pretty good results:-

1) Create my own landing page
My landing page is more consistent with Asian culture, rather than referring traffic straight to American-style landing pages. My opt-in rate increased from 14% to 42% just because I referred prospects to my own site with my picture first, before re-directing them to Renegade Network Marketer's free e-book The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing download page.

2) Putting my landing page link in my email signature, name card, forum postings, blog, YouTube, Facebook etc
...and use instant messengers like Skype (or QQ for China) to chat. These in combination drive huge amount of free traffic to my landing page to sign up for my free e-Course.

3) Use MLM product names in Pay-Per-Click
Instead of the usual "home based biz opp", "internet marketing", "lead generation" keywords, use MLM product related keywords in Google Adwords campaigns. More prospects search on these keywords in Asia, compared to biz-opp type or lead-generation type keywords.

Despite of the challenges, I'm excited about the possibilities and results. In the past 6 months, I have personally attracted over 800 prospects into my mailing list while generating enough cash flow through smart monetization to cover my online advertising expenses.

Asia has huge potential, and for those who are willing to educate others on the ways of attracting prospects using the internet, the rewards are what Network Marketing dreams of made of!

Well done Willy, a good introduction to InterNetwork Marketing. The whole idea is so much better than the purely local Network Marketing. This way is truly global.
