What is Tilt-Shift Photography

So what exactly is Tilt-Shift Photography?
Tilt-Shift Photography is commonly used in Miniature Faking and is a creative technique that 'transform' a life-size scene into a 'toy-like' scene where the setting and subjects appear 'mini'.
Tilt-Shift photography is achieved by either using a photo-editing software to digitally edit the images, or using Tilt-Shift lens. Tilt-Shift lens is expensive and manually operated, and that really deters many photographers from exploring into optical Tilt-Shift Photography.
The photographer has to manually align the camera movement and even the focusing is done manually. By tilting and shifting, the photographer is able to control the appearance of perspective in the image. Tilt-Shift lens is also known as Perspective-Control lens.
There is a much easier and affordable way to apply tilt-shift effects on your images, without even using an optical tilt-shift lens. Many photography hobbyists are using photo-editing software to post-alter the images into 'toy-like' simulation setting. This creative technique is known as Miniature Faking and its fan base is increasing by the day!
The most popular photo-editing software to digitally miniature fake images is Photoshop. While it offers lots of features, the learning curve is pretty steep and the price is on the high side.
So are there other alternatives to Photoshop for Tilt-Shift effects?
There are online Tilt-Shift generators that enables you to upload the images and photo-edit the images online. The downside of online Tilt-Shift generators is the lag time taken to render your images, and it depends on the server's response time and your internet connection.
