- I've not got any of the the new format and functionality in one of my old lenses - do you know what the explanation is?

- It may be that it's not using the new themes / templates? Some of the old ebay lenses for instance are not up to date on the new features. The only thing I can suggest is trying to turn on the max layout. If that doesn't work, remind the squidoo engineers of the old template by filing a bug report.

- It's already maxed and is using the standard template - which I'm happy with - and most of my lenses updated using this template. But not this one for some reason.
All I want to do is use the tools to change the text formatting - that's all!

- The tools to change the text formatting have been removed due to lensmasters complaining over them.
Do you have them on any other lenses? If that's not what you mean, please leave the URL of the lens you're talking about.

- WHO was complaining about them? I certainly wasn't. I thought they were brilliant
Did we have a vote about this? Where are these comments?: When did they happen? How come we weren't all asked what we thought?
Also how come the tools are still there on other lenses?

- I agree that they should have put this to a more popular vote. The vocal people who opposed the feature got their say, while those who quietly loved this did NOT get their say.
I think you will find that when you edit the introduction module of other lenses, you don't have a what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) interface any more there either. In fact, and this is VERY annoying, you will loose the look you gave the lenses with that feature.

- But I really don't understand this.
Surely the point is that those who don't like the text formating don't have tyo use it !
Do you have the link for where the debate took place. I don't recall ever seeing it.

- There was no debate. No outcry in the forums when they made it, no outcry when the feature disappeared. You can start a debate thread in squidu if you want.
There was just a quiet btw announcement in the forums that because of complaints (people can complain directly you know - bottom of each lens) the feature was removed.
I think it has to do with the percentage of lensmasters who want to be able to copy paste affiliate code: that was harder in this new system.

- Yes, I am such a dummy that I do not know how to use the new intro module format. Can you tell me what format it uses so I can learn it? For example, I do not know how to use the "headers" "normal (DIV)", etc. What does this mean? I was so used to using my own html to make borders and such, this new format is driving me nuts. Thanks for your understanding for this 100 Clubber who should know what to do.

- You're clearly not used to WYSIWYG interfaces. No worry: you can use all your old code simply by clicking 'code' :)
That was the short answer. A longer answer is that you no longer have to use HTML and CSS to spice things up. You can change the font size of anything you've typed by selecting the text you want to change and then selecting the font size of your choice. The same for borders and headings and all that. And the result can be seen right while you're doing it - so go and experiment. :)

- IF the photobucket pictures are open source, you can save them on your own pc, and then upload them in the introduction module. Otherwise you might search wikipedia for your subject - all pictures there are open source. Same thing: upload (aka save) to your own pc and then upload them to the introduction module.

- I've recently discovered Photobucket and have used three or four of their pics on a couple of my lenses by inserting them into text modules. I'm constructing a new lens and would like to put one of Photobucket's photos into my intro module, but can't do it as intro photos have to be on my hard drive. Is there a solution for this problem? I don't have any pics of my own on the subject of this under-construction lens. In fact, this is preventing me from following through on MANY ideas I have for lenses. Thanks.

- You already have a profile photo.
Perhaps you mean a picture in the introduction module? You can do that right in the introduction module itself where it says 'lens photo' you can click on 'upload photo'.

- How do I add a profile photo? I've followed the instructions that seem to suggest that I should be able to do it from my dashboard, then 'edit your bio'. There isn't any option in there about uploading photos. Any ideas?

- I get that sometimes as well. Try making the picture smaller. It need not be wider than 250px anyhow.

- Two possible things that might have happened:
1 - you clicked 'save draft' instead of 'publish'
2 - your content is for some reason perceived as spam by the system. If the problem persists, put through a bug report.
Hope it gets straightened out.

- Your affiliate program is probably using i-frames or embedding stuff. Try the direct links and image links. If they don't have any, you're just not going to be able to use that affiliate program on squidoo.

- Try closing your browser and just starting over. Could be the changes were saved, but not showing up. Sometimes squidoo gets slow that way. Of course it helps to make sure you've got your text (or even code) saved in a word document or something so you don't have to retype the text.
Good luck!

- for some reason I can't edit my bio. I'm new and I signed in. After signing in I wanted to edit my bio (actually create one) and add a picture. After hitting the buttons Edit Profile and Upload Picture, nothting happened. Then, after getting to the point where I could publish my first lens I was asked to sign in again. A box came up and said my username is already being used. DUH!! THat's ME! Help!!

- On some of the non-standard squidoo templates (like squidlit, squidwho, squidboo, ever project etc.) lensroll looks different - or won't even show up. Nothing you can do about it.
If you want to feature a lens, add a featured lenses module. Looks great and if you let that lensmaster who is featured know about it, they just might vote on your lens, or even lensroll it themselves :)

- Actually, it IS on the modules list. It just got hidden a bit.
Go to 'add modules', click on the little '2' at the bottome & there they are. You can add as many as you want.

- Can I ad a second (and more) Text/Write module to my lens?
If so, how do I do that? It is not on the modules list.

- You do need to be logged in to edit - but I suspect you WERE actually logged in when you saw all that.
Any module can be edited by clicking 'edit'.
Any module you aren't using can be deleted by clicking the x on the top right of that module.
Good luck. And do experiment. That's how software & internet skills are learned. It's not going to just break. And even if it does - you can just start over.
