The Invader Zim series has been over for a while now (like eight years), but it is still one of Nickelodeon's most popular shows ever. Invader Zim has definitely stood the test of time. About Invader Zim

Invader Zim was created by Jhonen Vasquez. The pilot episode for Invader Zim first aired on Nickelodeon on March 30, 2001. It was a huge hit, but after the first season it's ratings dropped, do mostly because people thought it was to dark of a cartoon for kids. Nickelodeon decided to give the show one more season, and at the end of the season there was going to be a big television movie finale. But half way through the second season Nickelodeon pulled the plug on Invader Zim, and stopped the production of about sixteen more episodes and the movie finale. Forty-six individual episodes of Invader Zim were aired on Nickelodeon. You can still find Invader Zim on Nickelodeon's channel "Nicktoons". Nickelodeon has also released Invader Zim on to DVD (which you can buy at the bottom of this lens).

Jhonen Vasquez

Jhonen Vasquez is the creator of Invader Zim. He also voiced a few characters on the show as well. Jhonen is the voice of Zim's computer, Minimoose, and a few other extra characters here and there (he goes by the name Mr.Scolex in the end credits for all of the characters he plays) . He was born on September 1, 1974 . He attended Mount Pleasant high school in San Jose California. Jhonen is comic book writer and music video director. One of his most popular comic books is "Johny The Homicidal Maniac".

Character Bios

Below are bios of some of Invaders Zim's most important characters.

Invader Zim

Zim is a little green alien from the planet Irk voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz (who was also the voice of Dagget on Nickelodeon's other show "The Angry Beavers"). Zim was an invader in "Operation Impending Doom", in which he accidentally destroyed half of his home planet. After that he was banished to Foodcourteia, where he was supposed to spend the rest of his life serving fast food. But once he heard about "Operation Impending Doom II" he quit being banished and set off to visit "The Tallests" (The rulers of the Irken Empire) to see what planet they wanted him to conquer.

After begging The Tallests to give him a planet to conquer and a second chance at being an invader, The Tallests sent Zim to an unknown planet (which turns out to be earth) to conquer, expecting Zim to fail. So Zim set off with his trusty robot companion GIR, to destroy the earth.

GIR

GIR is Zim's robot minion. GIR was handmade by The Tallests just for Zim. GIR may not be the smartest robot in the place where they keep the robots, but he is the funnest. Some of GIR's favorite things to do is eat tacos, dance, and watch the Scary Monkey Show on TV. GIR is voiced by Rosearik Rikki Simons.

Dib

Dib is Zim's arch rival. Dib is one of the very few people on the earth that know that Zim is really an alien. Dib's dad is Professor Membrane, who is the earth's smartest and most famous scientist. Dib also has a sister named Gaz. Besides spying on Zim, Dib has several other hobbies such as; going through Zim's trash, coming up with new ways to stop and expose Zim for the alien he really is, and looking for bigfoot and many other mythical creatures. He is a member of a secret paranormal investigation organization called "The Swollen Eye Network". Dib is voiced by Andy Berman.

Gaz

Gaz is Dib's scary sister. Dib often refers to her as his sidekick, but Gaz wants absolutely no part in any of his paranormal studies. Gaz is is also one of the few people that knows that Zim is an alien, she has even been inside his secret base a few times. Gaz is played by Melissa Fahn. Melissa has done voices for several other TV shows (mostly amine shows) and has acted in several Broadway productions.

The Tallests

The Tallests are the rulers of the Irken empire. The Tallests most favorite things to do are; take over planets, watch puppet shows, and eat snacks. The Tallests haven't been to fond of Zim ever since he almost destroyed their home planet (Irk). They sent Zim to planet earth expecting him to fail. The purple tallest is played by Kevin McDonald and the red tallest is played by Wally Wingert.

Professor Membrane

Professor Membrane is Dib and Gaz's father. He is the earth's most brilliant scientist. He is the inventor of several important inventions, such as super toast. Professor Membrane has his own TV show called "Probing The Membrane of Science". Professor Membrane is played by Rodger Bumpass.
