First, silver is cheaper than gold. Because of its more affordable price, silver can be accumulated easier and faster, and can be used for safekeeping assets in times of economic fluctuations such as inflation and recession. It also follows the trend of gold prices, thus when the price of gold increases, it follows the boost as well.
Silver also serves as the front liner during precious metals bull markets, as it serves a greater leverage as compared to platinum, palladium and even gold. In some bull markets, silver has the capability to triple in price, while gold has only doubled. However, because of its adherence to the gold standard, silver is as well susceptible to falling gold prices, and its value can be reduced significantly once the worth of its yellow plated cousin drops low.
Unlike gold, silver has a growing demand from various investors due to its industrial usage. Silver is used in different small-scale and large-scale industries, and stands a greater demand in terms of practical purposes. Emerging technologies today make good use of the metal for component and parts makeup, while markets meanwhile use it mainly for infrastructure and other related businesses.
Investing on silver usually depends on how the public currently perceives the metal's value. Premiums on silver bullion bars rely heavily on whether a silver seller is on balance. Premiums on silver reach as much as 90% when a huge percentage of the public market is investing in silver, but there also instances when silver premiums drop significantly especially when the public is focusing on another precious metal investment, such as gold.
Silver poses itself to be more fluid as compared to gold, and it follows the changing trends in economic and market behaviors. At present however, currency analysts predict that due to the development of new markets and the recovery of economies which have suffered a slump during the previous years, the demand for silver will increase significantly and will become a substantially valuable metal in the near future, making it a highly profitable area of investment.

The American Silver Eagle
The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. It was first released by the United States Mint on November 24, 1986. It is struck only in the 1 troy oz denomination which has a nominal face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of .999 pure silver. It is authorized by the United States Congress and its weight and content is certified by the United States Mint.
The design on the obverse was taken from the classic "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Weinman, which had originally been used on the half-dollar coin of the United States from 1916 to 1947. As this iconic design had been a public favorite -and indeed one most beloved designs of any United States coinage of modern times, silver or otherwise- it was revived for the Silver Eagle decades later. The reverse portrays a heraldic eagle designed by John Mercanti.
