Enter Excelsior, Ipad's comic book reader. Excelsior, also a free app, lets you build a collection of digital comics that you can take with you anywhere and not have to worry about bending the edges!

ESPN ScoreCenter

Sports? Yes, the Ipad does that too. Think of this as the sports command center for Ipad. ScoreCenter provides scores for all the games, as well as analysis. $5 keeps your eye on the ball with this app.



SoundHound

SoundHound is quite possibly the best app on Ipad for the music lover in all of us. SoundHound identifies any song playing with lightning fast precision. Find lyrics, create playlists, and track what songs are popular with other users. SoundHound is not free, but well worth the $5.

Pandora

Last, but certainly not least, the free internet-based radio, Pandora. Pandora puts the user in control of what's playing by selecting songs for your stations based on songs or artists that you select. You can tell Pandora if you like or dislike a song and it will pick more tracks for your listening enjoyment based on your input. Translations: Hours and hours of music bliss. Price: Free.

This number-one seller is just as addictive as you would think. Angry Birds has you direct angry birds via slingshot at green pigs surrounded by walls and other obstructions that you have to use the birds to break through. This is a Flash based game designed specifically for the touchscreens of smartphones and tablet computers. Cost: A steal at 99 cents.



Words With Friends

Speaking successful apps, Newtoy Inc. has seen Words With Friends really take off. It's kind of like Scrabble...you spell out words, get triple scores, and it's all phone to phone. The main difference is the words you will see slide. Some of them don't make it into any English dictionaries, but it's all part of the fun of the game. Available on iTunes for $2.99.

Geometry Wars

The beautifully simple, simply beautiful Geometry Wars started off as a mini-game on Xbox 360's Project Gotham Racing 2 and is now available through the Ipad App Store. This colorful, 80's-esque, arcade-style game is better than ever thanks to the Ipad's touchscreen and is only $10.



World of Goo

Originally released for PC and Wii, World of Goo puts players in charge of moving sticky goo balls to create towers and buildings and use them to transport the rest of the goo balls out of harm's way. This highly addctive, instant-classic is available for $10.
