iPhone Apps That Pay You

Get Paid With Your iPhone

I really like almost everything about my iPhone. The only significant downside to owning an iPhone is the cost, then you have to pay for most of the really good apps. Fortunately there are a growing number of apps that pay you to use them. For the past year or so, I have been downloading and testing various iPhone apps that pay for different activities such as mystery shopping and scanning items at your local store. Here is my list of apps that I have gotten paid for and you should try out if you want to make a little extra cash or get some nice gift cards.

Field Agent

Get Paid To Mystery Shop

A screenshot from my field agent account on 12/07/11Field Agent is by far the most lucrative app I have used. It is pretty much a mystery shopping app that pays you to go to stores and perform audits of different products. Most jobs they have require you to take a picture of the products requested and answer some questions. There are some jobs that require multiple pictures and some that don't require any. I have also received a few paid surveys that I could do at home. I have been a Field agent for the last Year and so far I have made about $700 from it. Although it is usually pretty straightforward there are times when the instructions can be vague.

I always try to give them all of the relevant info I can, I had 1 job out of 141 rejected and I wasn't paid for it even though it was an instance where it wasn't completely clear. There was also a time when I got caught taking pictures at a Wal-Mart and was asked to leave by the store director. I was still paid for the job and told they have permission from the corporate office but since it is mystery shopping I can't get permission from the individual stores to take pictures. Most Jobs pay between $4-$6 and I have seen them go as low as $2.00 and as high as $13.00. They usually pay me directly to PayPal within a day but not more than two days after I request a cash out, they cover the PayPal fees. At this time there is no referral program and this app is only available on iPhone.

Here are some tips to help make your Field Agent experience better

Make sure that you check the app often as new jobs are added all of the time day or night.

Don't ever let anyone know that you are mystery shopping.

If you see a Job you want make sure you grab it right away if you can, jobs disappear for a variety of reasons.

You only get two hours from the time you confirm a job until it has to be done so don't take more jobs than you can do.

Viggle

Get Paid To Watch TV

Viggle ScreenshotViggle is an app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It actually pays you to watch TV, play games, and watch commercials. Viggle is very new, it came out in late January, but I have already been paid 21 times for a total of $195 of Amazon and iTunes gift cards as of early April. This really is one of the biggest money making apps on iPhone. The best part about it is that you don't have to do anything that you wouldn't be doing already to pull in lots of extra gift cards.

When you use Viggle, you are paid in points that you can redeem for various prizes. All you have to do is check in to television shows, play games, and watch in app commercials. To get paid for watching shows you must place the phone near your TV while the show is on. It recognizes what is being broadcast on most channels using technology similar to the Shazam App. You can check in a maximum of 12 hours of TV shows per day. You will receive about 120 points an hour for being checked in to tv shows. When you watch trailers and commercials you will be paid between 10-100 points per clip and they tend be around 14 seconds to a few minutes. You can play the in app commercials while you are checked in to the shows or anytime you like.

Viggle Live is a game that Viggle offers during major television events or shows they really want you to watch. With big events you can get paid 100-300 points per correct answer and up to 5000 points for predicting the overall winner of things like The Daytona 500. Even if you answer questions incorrectly, you usually still get paid 10- 15 points. During Viggle live events they have you answer trivia questions, make predictions, vote in polls during the show. I used to really like sports when I was younger, then I stopped being interested. With Viggle live it is much more exciting to watch major sporting events because it is like betting on the game without the potential to lose any money.

There are currently a lot of shows that pay bonus points, in addition to the regular points for checking in. The Bonus points change from week to week but they tend to be between 200-400 extra points. To get bonus points you must be checked in for at least 10 minutes of the show and if you check in during the last 5 minutes Viggle can terminate your account for violating the TOS.

There is currently a very limited referral program that Pays you 200 points for every referral. Unfortunately at this time the only way you can refer anybody is from your personal contact list on your phone.I hope they change that soon.

It is very important to understand that the selection of prizes available and the cost of those prizes can change at anytime. Viggle says they restock prizes everyday and they have not quite figured out exactly what everything will be consistently. The first week Viggle went live there was a Viggle Deal on Amazon $5 gift cards, they cost only 4000 points each. As of this writing the featured prizes have changed many times and there are no Viggle Deals right now.

Viggle points are generally worth about 7500 points for a 5 dollar gift card if they are not on sale. Amazon Gift Cards appear sometimes but sell out very quickly. There are a large amount of other gift card prizes available that can include but not be limited to: Best Buy, Gap, Old Navy, Starbucks, Papa Johns, Hot Topic, Cvs, Chilis, Hulu Plus, Banana Republic, Banes and Noble and iTunes.Sometimes there are also some Physical products like a kindle Fire for 375,000 points. If you like to donate earnings there is also an option to donate to the Boys and Girls club or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

There is currently a maximum earning potential of $550 per person in a calender year which does not include winnings from any drawings or sweepstakes. In addition to the yearly limit Viggle has instituted a 12,000 point per day maximum unless there is a major Viggle Live event.

I have only cashed out Amazon and iTunes gift cards so far and they have all paid instantly. They do require you to fill in your address in order to cash out and they also require you to sign in for each cash out. Sometimes the email with your gift card doesn't arrive but you can always access your gift cards from the check in history tab.

Please don't try to cheat this app, this is such a generous and amazing opportunity for us all to earn a good amount of prizes for practically doing nothing, if you cheat them it will just reduce the earning potential for everyone.

Checkpoints

Get Paid To Check In And Scan Items At Stores

The Checkpoints app is the second most lucrative app I have used on my iPhone. With Checkpoints the main thing you are paid to do is scan different items at local stores. You are given points for each scan that range from about 10 to 50 points per scan. You also get a coin for each scan you do that you can use to spin the slots or buy a scratch ticket to win 20 to 150,000 points.

The points can be redeemed for various prizes including: Amazon Gift Cards, iTunes Gift Cards, Home Depot Gift Cards, iPads, laptops, or even a Wii. You also have the option of donating your points to charity. The prizes start at 300 points which is equal to a $1 gift card. I always get Amazon gift cards and so far in about a year I have earned about $220 worth. The cash out is usually within about a day but it can take up to a week for them to review your account to make sure you are not cheating the system. There is a referral program that currently pays the referrer 5 coins and the referral 300 points to sign up.

Checkpoints was updated to give you the ability to earn points and coins at home by doing things like downloading free apps and watching short videos about apps. Be sure if you sign up to read the terms of service closely because you can loose your account and balance if you don't abide by it. The most common things that people do are to either lie about what you get from a referral code or to post their referral code in the App Store. I can't say enough good things about this app, I think it is really fun to go on scavenger hunts at my local grocery store and get paid for it.

Here is the link to the app: CheckPoints

My referral code is sodaguy if you would like to use it to benefit both of us.

Swagbucks

Get Paid To Search

Although they technically don't have an app on iPhone yet, I have included it in this list because you can still use it on your iPhone browser to search. With Swagbucks you earn points by doing all sorts of activities such as searching, watching videos, playing games, voting in polls, and purchasing stuff.

The points can then be redeemed for items like gift cards or prizes. They also have a wide selection of physical prizes to choose from. If you get $5 Amazon cards they cost 450 Swagbucks but the rate varies depending on what you get. They are always thinking up new and fun ways to pay you but the main thing they are is a paid search engine that is powered by Google. The search results can be slightly different than Google sometimes but are usually pretty close.

Be sure to check the Lab42 surveys everyday on the Trialpay board. These surveys take only a few minutes to do and pay 45 Swagbucks. In my experience you get paid even if you screen out of the surveys. They say you can take 1 a day but it is usually ever other day or every third day. I have never seen a better survey opportunity.

There is a referral program that gives you matching Swagbucks for each SB your referral earns up from searching up to 1000. So far I have been using Swagbucks for around 1 year and I have earned a total of 22,359 SB with 58 referrals. That would be worth $245 if I redeemed it all in Amazon $5 gift cards, I believe they limit the amount of those to 5 each month. I have really enjoyed using this site and found it to be very rewarding.

My referral code is http://Swagbucks.com and I would really appreciate anyone using it.

WeReward

Get Paid To Check In

WeReward is an app from Izea that pays you to do different activities with your iPhone. This app gives you many ways to earn points, each point is worth a penny. Some of the ways you earn points are downloading free and paid apps, taking pictures, checking into places, and answering questions. Another way to earn is from the referral program which pays 10% of referral earnings.

You do need to have earned a minimum of $10.00 to be able to cash out. So far I have 20 referrals but most of them have not earned any points yet. So far I have cashed out a total of $15.05 which was paid directly to my Paypal, with $4.03 pending. I really like getting paid to download and try apps instead of having to pay for them. The biggest reward that I have gotten was $10.00 for signing up to Nielson Digital Rewards. Here is my link, thank you in advance for using it.

Surveys On The Go

Get Paid To Take Quick Surveys

Surveys On The Go is a really great survey app. I usually find myself getting burned out pretty quick with surveys but what makes this app different is the surveys are extremely short. Each survey is only a few minutes and so far all of the paid surveys pay $1each. I have been using Surveys On The Go for only a couple of months now and I have reached the $10 minimum threshold only 1 time. They paid me directly to PayPal right away, unfortunately it was an electronic check so Paypal held the funds for a few extra days.

The only thing I don't like about this app is that sometimes if you don't qualify for surveys they don't tell you about it, you just don't get paid for that particular one. I have only had 2 surveys that I didn't qualify for out of 13 and the surveys are really short. They just announced in the last few days that there will now be a survey guaranteed every week. You do have to make sure to check this app often for new surveys because they fill up very fast and the push notifications aren't always reliable. At this time there is no referral program.
