iPhone 3G or HTC Evo

iPhone 3G and the HTC Evo are two of the best smart phones on the market. Both phones posess tons of cool, cutting-edge features some similar, and others different. The Apple iPhone 3G is the older of the two phones, and some peole decided to upgrade the iPhone to the HTC Evo becuase its a newer and has a lot of the same features. But is the HTC Evo really an upgrade, or is the iPhone 3G better? Let's find out!

While I thing that both smart phones look really slick, I will give a slight edge to the iPhone here. This is mainly because I don't really like the way the 4 buttons at the bottom of the HTC's screen look like(although they are quite functional) versus the simple and clean look of the single square button of the iPhone. Other than that, both phones had a very good design. It was functional, simple, and clean, all of which I like. The plastic was smooth, polished and did not feel cheap.

iPhone vs. Evo: Specs

A break down of the specs of the Apple iPhone 3G and HTC Evo

  • Dimensions: iPhone is 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches, and weights 4.8oz. The HTC Evo is 4.8 x 2.6 x 0.5 inches, and weights 6oz

  • Connectivity: The HTC Evo has 4G capabilities while the iPhone 3G has 3G capabilities, which means that the Evo has a little faster at browsing the web. Both phones have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB connectivity.

  • Hardware: The HTC comes with an 8MP camera and a 1.3MP camera in the front. It has a 1GB of storage memory + up to 8GB on microSD card, and 512MB of random access memory. It has a 4.3'' HD display and a battery which allows for around 360 minutes of talk time. The iPhone has a 3 MP camera, 8 GB of memory, 3.5'' display, and a battery which allows for about 300 minutes of talk time.

  • Software:
    • The HTC Evo runs on Android 2.1 while the iPhone runs on iOS. While the iOS has more apps for than the Android, the Android is catching up pretty quickly. Other than that, both are easy to use and run smoothly. While the iOS has been around longer and is more polished, the Android has the potential to soon over take it.

The Decision

And the winner is...

After examining all of this information, I have finally come to a conclusion. The HTC's new touch phone Evo is better than the iPhone 3G, and if I was buying a new phone it would be ahead of the iPhone on my list. I come to this conlcusion because the HTC has better hardware than the iPhone 3G and because its software has the potential to be better than the iOS in a pretty short time.

    Just had a little mishap with my EVO thankfully with a simple hard reset I was able to get it to work again.

    I have the EVO and love it! You mentioned that it doesn't have USB, but it does. I connected just yesterday with it. t also has a HDMI out for watching great video! I almost bit the bullet and got the iPhone, but everyday, since I got the EVO, I glad I didn't go with the iPhone! Great lens btw!
