Apple Announces the iPhone 3G S
the fastest and most powerful iPhone ever!
Apple has announced a new version of the iPhone, called the iPhone 3G S.Major improvements over the iPhone 3G include a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and VGA video capture at 30fps, and 7.2Mbps HSDPA.
There's a touch-to-focus feature that allows users to touch the area of the screen that they want the camera to focus. It also has a built-in compass, improved battery life, faster peformance, voice commands, and hardware encryption.
It will go on sale June 19. The 32GB model will be $299 and the 16GB model will be $199. Apple is also dropping the price of the iPhone 3G to $99 starting immediately.

SlingPlayer Coming to iPhoneSling Media announced SlingPlayer for the iPhone, allowing SlingBox users to access their home TV and DVR from anywhere. The software is being demo'd this week, and will be submitted to Apple for approval this quarter.
Apple Approves Third Party Browsers for iPhone
Apple has begun approving of browsers for the iPhone and iPod Touch developed by third party companies. Previously, Apple had said it wouldn't approve of or allow applications that duplicated the functionality of native iPhone applications. The first few browsers to be approved are called Edge Browser, Incognito, WebMate and Shaking Web. They range from free to $2. All of them are based on the same Webkit core as Apple's Safari, and add functionality to the existing Safari browser. The change doesn't necessarily mean that Apple will allow full browsers from other companies such as Opera or Firefox.
Adobe, Apple Collaborating on Flash for the iPhone
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Adobe's CEO Shantanu Narayen sid that developing Flash for the iPhone is challenging, and that it is working with Apple to make it work. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said that Flash is too much for the iPhone to handle and that Flash Lite isn't capable enough. He requested that Adobe build another version of Flash that could work on devices such as the iPhone.
Google Makes 1.5 Million Books Available to iPhone and Android
Google has created a mobile web site that allows users of the iPhone and HTC G1 to search for and read 1.5 million public domain books. The books can be read directly from the phones' browsers. Many of the classics, such as those written by Mark Twain, Charles Dickens and many others, are included. Users simply go to the Google Books web site (link below) and begin searching. DataViz Brings Docs to Go to iPhone and Android
DataViz will be announcing several new products at Mobile World Congress, including availability of its Documents to Go software on additional platforms. DataViz said Documents to Go will be made compatible with the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry platforms. This will allow the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry to interact with Microsoft's Word, Excel and PowerPoint productivity software. In addition, DataViz is also set to unveil RoadSync (which is its Exchange client) for Android and Symbian S60 Touch 5th Edition. These tools will allow users of the iPhone and Android to use software that may be required by their businesses, and will empower them to interact with work-related documents. With both Documents to Go and RoadSync soon to be available for Android, it will be much better suited for business users. DataViz will provide more information at Mobile World Congress.
Google Sync Now Available for iPhone and Windows Mobile
Google has made its Sync software available to the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices. Google Sync lets users automatically synchronize calendar and contacts data between Gmail and Google calendar and mobile handsets. It works because Google has licensed Microsoft's ActiveSync technology. Google Sync works both ways, so any changes made on the phone are automatically reflected on the web and vice versa. Google Sync is also available for SyncML-enabled phones and BlackBerries, S60, Series 40 and Sony Ericsson phones. Google Sync for the iPhone and Windows Mobile is free, beta software. By licensing ActiveSync, Google has opened up the possibility for true push email for the iPhone and Android.
iPhone Gets Live Mobile TV from Packet Video
Packet Video announced a new application that will allow the iPhone to access live TV and video services. The application is available starting today, but will be sold via the cell phone carriers in the iPhone Apps Store as their own, branded service. Mobile operators are expected to offer the new iPhone application under their own brands. It will let iPhone users watch local live television channels and on-demand video clips. Packet Video did not say which carriers would be offering the software, or how much it would cost.
