You've got a new iPhone, so now what?
This was the question that a couple of my friends were asking after they'd just purchased their spanking new Apple mobile products. They had a good idea what they wanted, but didn't really know the best source/s of purchase and/or download. After a few sorties into the online minefield of iPhone downloads, they asked for friends' input, and a logical battle plan was drawn up.

What is an iPhone?
The iPhone is an Internet-enabled multimedia mobile phone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. This means that it can do just about anything! What can the iPhone do?
The iPhone offers the following functionality:
- Camera phone
- Portable iPod media player
- Text messaging
- Visual voicemail
- Internet
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- International capability (GSM Standard)
- EDGE network data technology support

What's sexy about the iPhone?
When viewing photos, it's really easy to zoom in by spreading your fingers from side to side on the screen. This addition keeps my little mind happy for ages, accompanied by giggles of delight. There's also a really exciting motion sensor that recognizes whether the device is upright or side-on. Have a look at the CBS video below to see how these functions work.

A brief history of the iPhone
- Seeing as how the iPod was such a smash, Apple announced the imminence of iPhone in January 2007
- As is usually the case, the announcement was preceded by rumours and speculations that circulated for several months
- The iPhone was introduced in the US on June 29, 2007
- Releases in the UK, Germany and France followed in November 2007, and in Ireland and Austria in March 2008
- iPhone was named Time magazine's Invention of the Year for 2007
- Look out for an iPhone version that has a faster 3G cellular network operational capacity

What do you want on your iPhone?
Two of my mates had bought iPhones, and they both wanted slight operational differences; Jules's into his movies and 'bad' music (his words, not mine!), while Rye likes playing with as many random applications as possible.We decided to find out what was out there for the 'empty' iPhoner and decided on around half a dozen of the more 'reliable' iPhone download sites and found that they weren't that dissimilar.

iPhone Nova review
iPhone Nova seems to be the most patronised of all the iPhone download sites. The interface isn't particularly user-friendly for non-members, but as they claim to be the original iPhone download site maybe it's down to that that they've managed to secure such a popular position in the market.

iPhone Download Pro review
This iPhone download site is something of an iPhone Nova clone but offers a pretty good front end to the user. After taking the plunge we found iPhone Download Pro a to be quite a smooth ride to find and fetch what we wanted from their huge choice of downloadable content.

iPhone Downloads seems to offer exactly the same service as iPhone Nova, even down to the same 'join' page. We decided that paying $49.95 once for the service was enough and declined to subscribe again. If you fancy it, knock yourselves out - iPhone Downloads iPhone download site may offer a totally different environment.

This is a much more entertaining iPhone download site for the non-member, much more enticing, butstill nowhere to go but the 'join now' page. Once we'd jsubscribed we found that they have a massive choice of downloadable content with quick download speeds, but the guides and tutorials can be a little 'unfriendly'.

iPhone Unlimited review
We found iPhone Unlimited to be a little inaccessible compared to the other iPhone download sites that we tested. The download process was a little awkward and the guides and tutorials not always plain sailing. The downloads were certainly fast, and although we couldn't possibly count the claimed 30 Billion files, there was certainly a massive choice!

Net iPhone Downloads review
We found Net iPhone Downloads to be both a better quality iPhone download site and have a higher level of customer support. Although our rating for this supplier is one of the lowest due to a lack of added extras that some of the others bundle in, it seems to be the consensus at SnufflePig that this is one of the better iPhone download sites.

Net Movie Downloads has a pretty useful demonstration guide on the front page that shows what users get when they join up. The one off subscription fee here is a break from the norm, weighing in at only $34.95. Get it while it's hot!
Some random iPhone pics
I sometimes look at the photos that I've taken on my mobile phone and wonder how they got there; not the mechanics, but why on Earth I took them! I've noticed my iPhone friends whip out their Apple devices out at the merest whiff of a photo opportunity, just so they can show them off. This is born out in these random iPhone photos.
