I bought this ipod touch to replace a second generation, 8 G version, and there are definitely a number of improvements: built-in microphone, two cameras, faster processor, the ability to use OS5 and updated apps. Getting the 32 G was a definitely worthwhile, especially since on Amazon, it is only a little more costly than the 8 G version. It came with the older OS, but upgrading was seamless. The downsides are minor - as has been noted, the cameras are ok but not very sharp or great in low lighting; the device is slightly thinner, which actually makes it less comfortable to use.
