iPod? Zune? Or one of many other digital audio players?

Okay, I know you're excited! You just scored your first new MP3 player, and you can't contain yourself. You eagerly jam your earbuds into your ears (where else?) and wonder why music was so... silent. Wait a minute, there's no music on here!?! As you panic, you don't realize that there are a plethora of ways to get music onto your iPod and into your ears. Are you ready?

The easy way

Or the way you were meant to do it

Okay, this is the easiest way to put music onto your iPod, or your Zune, whichever one you have. If it's the iPod that you cling to so desperatly when you need an acoustic haven, then iTunes, which is bundled with your iPod, is what you'll use to load all of those juicy, delicious, fresh music files that you purchase from the iTunes Music Store onto your equally tender and succulent iPod.
Now if it's a Zune, then you'll want to use the Zune software and purchase your music through the Zune Marketplace. You can also rip songs from a CD, which it should ask you if you want to do it when you have the program open and you insert a CD into your CD drive.
Okay, cool! Now what? There's lots of other ways to do this, right? Right.

Online Downloads

Subscription Types

The first place I'm going to mention is Net Movie Downloads. For a minimum subscription fee, you get unlimited downloading of music and videos, which all will work on your iPod or Zune. You can also go to the Unlimited Download Center, and download to hearts content, for a small fee. You can also download TV Shows.

The somewhat complicated way

Vinyl

I know some people don't care at all about vinyl, and may even scratch their head as to why you referenced flooring in the same sentence as music, but a number of people still hold on to these in their garage or in the back of a dark closet. Vinyl may be old, but it has a certain charm and quality that can't be matched by any other thing. Unless you record it, which is what you do to get it on your iPod, which is what i'm going to be showing you how to do. First, you'll need a turntable to play your records. Then, you'll need to head over to Radio Shack and get a Y cable . Then all you do is hook up your turntable to your computers line-in jack, and record away, provided you have a decent sound card, with a free recording program such as Audacity as you play those oldies but goodies on your turntable.
