So, How Do We Measure IQ?

How do we measure intelligence?

For many years the accepted way of measuring a person's intelligence was the IQ, or Intelligence Quotient, test. Whilst this test is well accepted, new approaches have emerged in recent years to challenge it. Here's why...

Many researches argue that IQ is not an accurate measure because people with high IQ test results are often unsuccessful in life. You may know of some yourself. Although these people are extremely intelligent they just don't seem to be able to use their intelligence in every day life. Enter the Emotional Quotient or EQ.

EQ is a relatively new approach to measuring intelligence that takes into account emotional factors. For example, a person with high EQ can be very successful in life because they relate well to people - an asset for business leadership for instance. Proponents of EQ argue that IQ is not sufficient on its own to measure intelligence.

I invite you to read the information on this lens and judge for yourself.
