Non-Profit/ Activist Networking

Phoenix Based Activist Seeks Like-Minded Individuals

I recently graduated with a BA from ASU in Philosophy and looked around for a job and found nothing. Apparently wisdom is not something that gets you a whole lot of clout nowadays. So, I started to feel out the local non-profit scene and came across two organizations I now volunteer for that I respect. I volunteer on a part time basis for both St. Joseph's the Worker and The Clean Elections Institute, and am looking to make a career out of helping people. I am currently in the Master's of Public Administration Program (as a non-degree student) and am looking to make connections in the field of public service. Look to this site for updates on what I think is relevant in the field of public service, my personal experiences, and no fluff, cynicism free rhetoric about local and federal politics. The International Rescue Committee - look for one in your city!

Almost every major urban city has an IRC chapter

One of the first to respond, one of the last to leave. For more than 70 years, the International Rescue Committee has been a leader in humanitarian relief. We mobilize quickly, bringing sustained support to regions torn apart by violence and deprivation. We provide a fresh start in the U.S. for refugees. And we advocate tirelessly on behalf of the displaced, addressing the root causes of violence and standing up for the world's most vulnerable populations.

Internation Goings On - it effects you!!

The World is Flat...AND Small!

It's a small world when the gun you shoot into the air comes back down to kill your neighbor. And it's a small world when the connection between your actions and the deaths of others isn't so apparent an immediate, too. The torture of prisoners anywhere, at any time by U.S. soldiers, it can be argued, has done more to hurt the United State's image than anything else we've done during this war. I'd like to hear a politician say, on any side of the aisle, the golden rule (if they're Christian) in response to the argument that torture keeps us safer, or that what we put out eventually comes back to us (of they're more new-agey). See below.
