Irish Cat Songs!
Lots of people love cats, and lots of people love Irish music. Lots of people love both! But how many people would have thought of combining the two? It's an odd concept, but Marc Gunn makes it work in the Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers CD.
Like Spike Jones and Weird Al, Marc Gun parodies Irish songs by changing the lyrics around. Every once in a while he even punctuates the songs with funny sound effects. My personal favorite of his songs is the Demented Cat Gang (Patriot Game), where Gunn sings about insane cats and how his house simply isn't big enough for a cat tyranny.
Marc Gunn sings about normal cat behavior: Pouncing, rolling around in catnip, snuggling, chasing bugs, and everything else that cats love to do. What makes all this even better is that Gunn is actually a pretty good singer and has a good Irish band to carry the humor along.
