The iron shirt, or iron body is a poetic name for a kung fu skill set which the monks of the Shaolin Temple are particularly famed for having mastered.
Through a combination of specialist exercises and physical conditioning programmes, with advanced qi gong routines enabling the practitioner to channel guardian qi (or chi as you may know it) to form a barrier at the skin, a master of the iron shirt can withstand any strike, even from a blunt weapon such as a bat, without injury, and without even being moved.
In this instance iron shirt is used to refer to the whole range of iron skills, which can include such disciplines as iron palm and iron crotch.
I have collected as many resources together as I can find and I offer them to you here for anyone who wishes to learn this amazing discipline for themselves, as well as those of you who are just looking for some cool videos and other interesting stuff.

This is a great book. It's the only thing you can by from a mainsteam retailer like amazon that comes even close to doing any justice to this subject.
Leaving aside the conditioning exercises which are fairly straigth forward, this books jumps straight into the esoteric chi exercises needed for advanced iron shirt.
One interesting technique covered in detail in this book is to use control of the breath and fine muscle control to pack air into the abdomen providing a cushion around the internal organs.
There is also a heavy emphasis on 'rooting' practice, which helps you to develop a very stable stance so that you canot be knocked down.
