Did You Know?

One of many global issues, but perhaps the single most important, is that of clean water. From humans to animals to the environment, water - or the lack of - affects all aspects of life. And it's not just having water, but having clean water that is the vital component. Globally, the need for clean water is resulting in efforts to maintain and conserve clean water sources. Locally, conservation begins with each one of us on a daily basis, doing our part in our lives and in our homes. One way to do so is with a drip Irrigation System.

Reusing glasses in your daily routine is one of the easiest ways to reduce the amount of water necessary each week. By reusing a glass for drinking water throughout the day you'll reduce the amount of glasses you go through in a day and week and in turn drastically cutback on the amount of times a week you have to run the dishwasher or wash your glasses. The amount of water this can save each week amounts to multiple gallons!

Your Part Means A Lot

We all love the look of a green lawn and it's no surprise that water is needed for this to happen. Irrigation systems water at certain set times for a specific length of time. Unfortunately, a system for irrigation itself has no way of determining that your lawn is already wet from rain. Installing a rain sensor makes an irrigation system "smart" and prevents the unneeded waste of hundreds of gallons of water.

The visual condition of your lawn is not always the best indicator as to whether or not it is getting enough water. Unfortunately, over-watering can produce nearly the same results as under watering - yellowing grass. Assessing the moisture level of the soil at a depth of approximately three inches down gives a much better reading on the actual soil conditions. Following this observation, a better way to regulate more accurate watering sessions is to install a drip irrigation system or a garden irrigation system. This allows a varied, yet precise, watering.

Simple Steps Mean So Much

Adding a lush beauty to your property, shrubs and ground cover plants can also help lower your water consumption. Using plants that are drought-tolerant means less water for the plants and less grass that consumes greater volumes of water. Some even install a home addition, such as a patio or porch, which lets them enjoy their newly landscaped lawn, as well as reducing the area of water usage.

When defrosting food, it's important to utilize non-water techniques for the defrosting of meats and other foods. Using running water to defrost foods can waste tens of gallons at a time and usually defrosts at almost the same speed as conventional defrosting techniques.

One Step Gets You Going

Matching the appropriate washing load to the size of your laundry is a great way to get the most efficient results and save hundreds of gallons of water a month. Most modern laundry machines will offer a variety of load sizes such as "Small", "Medium" and "Large"; matching the amount of laundry you wish to run with the machine's size settings will save you water and get a more efficient washing result.

With water conservation emerging as the absolute priority for the future of this planet, taking every small and large step you can in your personal life is the smartest investment. Our homes, where we spend so much of lives, will benefit from the step of installing a drip irrigation system that uses standard drip Irrigation Supplies. This is the large step we can personally take, which will mean so much on a global level if every one of us just makes that choice.
