Is Affiliate Marketing Worth the Effort it takes to get Started?

You have probably heard the term "affiliate marketing" around the internet and want to know if it is worth the effort. Let me ask you a few questions.

-Is it worth starting my own business?
-Should I start my own business?
-Isn't it hard to start my own business?

I hope you see my point. When people ask should I start affiliate marketing they are really asking if they are going to complete the work it takes. Well this is the same as any other online business. If you expect to read an article, write a half a page, and then start earning paychecks then you should close your internet browser now because those type of methods DO NOT EXIST. After all if it was really that simple wouldn't everyone be making millions from the internet?

Now what you really want to know is how much time and money does it take to get started. Now as long as you understand that this not some "become a billionaire overnight" scheme and that you will actually have to do some work we can continue and I can answer the question "How Can I Start Affiliate Marketing?"

How much Money is it?

I am not going to sit here and sugar coat things for you. Nor will I pretend that it takes just a few clicks of the mouse to get your first paycheck.

Yes it is possible to start you for no money and by just a few clicks of the mouse BUT if you want to know How can I Start Affiliate Marketing PROFITABLY then its not quite as simple. Yes their are places all over the net promising you to go from rags to rich's but any program that is worth its time and money is going to require work from you.

First lets discuss the money it takes to get started. If you are expecting to start absolutely free without spending a dollar then exit out of your web browser because you wont earn a dime. It simply doesn't happen.

I personally spent this when I started

-$70.00 on a training program
-$9.99 on my own website domain
-$5.99 a month for the hosting

Now this is not a ton of money and when you think about it it is actually very little compared to starting other forms of businesses but ALL OF THESE ARE NECESSARY.

1. The training program taught me more about the best ways to make sales and gain traffic.
2. The Website domain allows me to make the sales. (self explanatory)
3. Hosting for my site to keep it on the web. (self explanatory)

Can I Start Affilaite Marketing-How Much Work Will it Take?

Now that we have gone through the money needs lets discuss the work it takes. This will take a little bit of work each day. I am not saying you have to slave away fro hours on end at your computer but this will take some effort and you will only succeed if you put in the time and have the dedication. When you ask "Can I Start Affiliate Marketing" I will ask you "Are you Willing to Work for Your Money?"

Here is the work I do for my own profits.

-Use Yahoo Answers
-Use Ezine Articles
-Create Squidoo lens
-Create link-wheels
-Post on relevant forums
-Use social bookmarking and Social network sites

This may seem like a lot of work and you might be asking is affiliate marketing worth the effort. Well to be honest even with all that work I work for less than an hour a day. Now if that scares you or worries you then just exit now because money will not just come running at you. You have to do some work to earn it.

How Can I Start Affilaite Marketing?

The first and most important step is to learn more. Do not just jump in because you will get frustrated and most likely give up. I recommend that you get a good affiliate marketing training course and go through it several times. Yes this will cost you a little bit of money but if you are serious then do not worry. Remember once you learn how to do something you have completed the most challenging part.
