Is Eczema Contagious? - Whispers and Stares
Unfortunately, many people mistakenly believe eczema is a contagious skin condition It's unsightly rash and often scaly appearance really does look like it could be catching, but it is not. In fact, you may need to start a discussion with other parents to stop the worry.
There is no insult normally intended when people ask "is eczema contagious?". It is absolutely OK for people to be worried about their own or their child's well-being. After all, none of us would want to put our child in danger, would we?
Is Eczema Contagious?
Dealing with ignorance
Tell them that eczema is an inflammation of the skin not a contagious disease. Tell them how uncomfortable it can be, and that there is very little let-up in the itchiness.
Tell them that there are many reasons for eczema, including the weather, airborne allergens, and contact with certain chemicals. Close contact with the skin results in itching, only your child can't stop, so a rash develops.
As dangerous looking as that rash may look, it is harmless to others. Eczema is not contagious. In fact, you could explain that your child is at the most risk. If they have an open wound that is left uncovered, the risk of infection increases.
"I just wanted to send you a huge thanks .....! My 8 months son had eczema on his face, neck and upper chest..... After only a few days his skin started looking better and after 10 days he had no sign of eczema anymore. Thank you, thank you, thank you!" (Diana Garret from Hibiscus Coast talking about Eczema Free Forever.)
Is Eczema Contagious?
Keeping Your Explanation Simple
When most of us think of allergies, sneezing and stuffy noses come to mind. These are a body's reaction to something it doesn't like.
With eczema, the skin does the same. Your skin comes into contact with something it doesn't like, something irritates the skin surface. That is why you feel the need to itch and scratch, resulting in a rash.
"Wow, what can I say? This is an awesome product! I only tried it for 6 days and I saw a huge improvement on my eczema. This morning I woke up with none of the normal red blotchy dry skin on my hands that I used to wakes up with every morning. Absolutely amazing, thank you so much." (Brandon from Costa Rica talking about Eczema Free Forever.)
Is Eczema Contagious?
Explaining to Other Parents
Talking to other parents about eczema will help in social situations, but it won't cure your child's eczema. Always be on the lookout for trigger factors. In the meantime, use all-natural relief methods, such as moisturizer and specialty skin products as well as healthy foods to help your child seek relief.
