Is Your Child Prepared for Kindergarten?

Ranked #7,978 in Education, #174,479 overall

What they should have to make it easier

Entering kindergarten is a gigantic step in a young kid's life. There is so much they will learn and experience as they begin their journey of education.

As parents there are many things we will do to make sure our children are as prepared as possible for this transition. There are plenty of different areas we are able to look at when assessing whether our children are prepared for kindergarten. On a social level kids should be in a position to separate from their parents and feel OK with the adults in the school.

They will need to be prepared to handle the challenges concerned with sharing and waiting their turn. Youngsters are socially prepared for kindergarten when they can deal with the different feelings that can be brought about within the school environment. There are several intellectual skills that a child should have when they enter the kindergarten setting. They need to be interested in finding out about letters and numbers and be able to recognize them. Children in kindergarten will be expected to sit and hear stories and music.

Successful Kindergarteners

Successful kindergarten scholars will show an interest in basic math skills such as shapes, numbers, and comparisons. Most significantly they should be worked up about taking part in new activities and learning new ideas.

On a motor abilities level kids should be in a position to complete basic talents such as holding writing tools, using scissors, and buttoning or zipping their own clothes.

Focus

They need to be in a position to stay focused on a specific task for at least 15 minutes. If a child has mastered all of these talents and is the appropriate age probabilities are they're ready for kindergarten. When they start classes their teachers will see that they are healthy, mature, and excited to learn.
