Greatest Mathematician Isaac Newton

One of the greatest mathematician and physicist that is hard to forget is Isaac Newton. I first heard about him when I was in Elementary school but I didn't really pay attention to it. When I was in High School, I had a very talented teacher who inspired me a lot about chemistry and physics. I got higher grades and then I showed more interest it his subject. One of the lessons was the Newtons Laws of Motions.

Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, and theologian, and is considered by many scholars and members of the general public to be one of the most influential people in human history. His Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Latin for "Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy"; usually called the Principia), published in 1687, is one of the most important scientific books ever written. It lays the groundwork for most of classical mechanics. In this work, Newton described universal gravitation and the three laws of motion, which dominated the scientific view of the physical universe for the next three centuries. Newton's First Law of Motion:

Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

Isaac Newton and Physics for Kids: His Life and Ideas with 21 Activities

(For Kids series) [Paperback]

Isaac Newton and Physics for Kids paints a rich portrait of this brilliant and complex man, including 21 hands-on projects that explore the scientific concepts Newton developed and the times in which he lived. Readers will build a simple waterwheel, create a 17thcentury plague mask, track the phases of the moon, and test Newton's Three Laws of Motion using coins, a skateboard, and a model boat they construct themselves. The text includes a time line, online resources, and reading list for further study. And through it all, readers will learn how the son of a Woolsthorpe sheep farmer grew to become the most influential physicist in history.

Newton's Second Law of Motion:

The relationship between an object's mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors (as indicated by their symbols being displayed in slant bold font); in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector.

Newton's Third Law of Motion:

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

this is a great lens. I am about to become a math teacher myself and I could use a bunch of those posters for my classroom. Thanks for putting this together!

What a wonderful lens this is. Physics doesn't have to be all about abstract mathematical concepts. It is also about the passion for discovery. Let Scientists like Newton handle the complicated stuff. After all he was amazing at it! That leaves the rest of us free to enjoy the journey in the realm of new discoveries conveniently summarized in layman's language.

Isaac Newton was one of most influential scientists of all times. And he succeeded with an apple, not The Apple;-)

You said this, "considered by many scholars and members of the general public to be one of the most influential people in human history." He certainly gets my vote! He had an amazing career!
Thanks for the great lens! I Really appreciated it!

Great lens. (But you forgot to mention his work on color. Newton, after all, did invent the color wheel - so I've added a direct link to this lens from his name on my page: http://www.squidoo.com/using-color-in-your-home
    Aloha,
