Who Is Isaac Hanson?

Isaac is the oldest of the Hanson brothers.  He will hit the ripe old age of 30 on November 17th of 2010.  Isaac is Hanson's guitarist, but he also plays piano, and I heard he has played the drums on rare occasions.  He has the deepest voice of the three, and in my opinion the smoothest and most melodic.

Hanson recently celebrated 10 years since they broke into the music scene with their chart topper "MmmBop" in 1997.  In 2007 they released a tenth anniversary cd/dvd entitled "Middle of Nowhere Acoustic", which was recorded live in Tulsa in front of a few hundred Hanson.net fan club members (including me!).  I was priviledged to be able to be a part of this great moment for the band that has made such a lasting impact on my life.

Hanson's new album is out now. Check out Hanson.Net for all the details.

HANSON & TOMS Shoes Announced A Partnership To help End AIDS And Poverty In Africa

NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ By Kate Scheiner/ Apex Exposure) - This summer, HANSON (Hanson.net) and TOMS Shoes announced a partnership to help end AIDS and poverty in Africa. HANSON is committed to helping those stricken with HIV / AIDS, and TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased. Together, these two organizations hope to make a bigger difference and reach more people than if they stood alone.
On HANSON's Fall 2007 "The Walk Tour", the band worked to raise awareness of TOMS' mission, by staging a 1 mile walk in every city and inviting TOMS to sell their shoes at every show. HANSON helped TOMS reach their goal of donating 50,000 pairs of shoes to children in need, as well as helping TOMS reach a new audience. But this was only the beginning.
In November, HANSON accompanied TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie to South Africa to assist in "dropping" those 50,000 new pairs of shoes. Isaac, Taylor and Zac personally outfitted many South African children and revisited the country and people they have been working towards helping through their "Great Divide" single and merchandise, as well as several other projects they are involved in. The next shoe drop is scheduled for July, and this Spring HANSON will again be helping TOMS reach their goal.

Enclosed please find video footage of HANSON and TOMS Shoes' November trip to South Africa. It is the first chapter in a long story, and we look forward to providing you with more content as the months go by. We hope you enjoy and find it compelling.

Isaac Hanson: "I'm Lucky to be here"

Article From the Tulsa World

By JENNIFER CHANCELLOR World Scene Writer
11/11/2007

After a potentially life-threatening medical condition forced the Hansons to postpone the band's eagerly awaited homecoming show at Cain's Ballroom in early October, the boys made it back onto the road and will revisit the historic venue Sunday.

The Oct. 3 show was halted after eldest Hanson brother Isaac was taken to a Dallas hospital and diagnosed with pulmonary embolism early that morning - a blood clot that traveled to a lung - and thoracic outlet syndrome or Paget-Schroeder syndrome, a rare condition caused by compression of blood vessels and nerves in the area of the collarbone. causes pain, numbness and loss of grip strength.

"I'm lucky to be here," Isaac Hanson said as he patted the elastic bandage that covered his right forearm a press conference last month. He has said that he will undergo surgery permanently repair the problem, probably sometime after Christmas.

The Tulsa act has sold out several shows during its current national tour, according to press reports.

The band has worked to raise social awareness of AIDS and poverty Africa after a tour of the country last year. And with maturity and marriage - Taylor, Isaac and Zac are all now wed, and two have children - has come a profound awakening social consciousness.
They've partnered with TOMS shoes, and for every pair sold during the tour, a pair will be donated to children in Africa. Also, all proceeds from the band's first single, "Great Divide," from their most recent album, "The Walk," will go to fund AIDS and HIV research and treatment at hospitals in Africa.

"AIDS is killing more people than any world war. It's wiping out an entire continent," Isaac Hanson said in a recent interview. "If we don't take action, it could get a lot worse than we ever imagined. With the Internet, with instant access to anywhere in the world, our generation can do anything.

"We just need to take that first step."
