Finally - ISBN Textbook Magic
Actually, the ISBN textbook idenfication system isn't magic at all. Heck, it's not even just for textbooks either.
There are agencies, 160 at last count that can issue an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) number. All the ISBN doesw is uniquely identify a textbook, regular book of book-like product. It's just an identification system.
Here is a handy tool to search to BUY or to SELL a book using the ISBN textbook number.

Simply put the number into the tool and you have all the information needed to make a good decision about the book. Can't get any faster or easier than that.
The thing I like about this is that I don't have to pay the rediculous prices at the campus bookstore. Sure they're convienient but the crowds, the time involved with getting the book and the fact that they're out of the most popular ones a lot of the make it frustrating to say the least.
I much prefer to use my College bookstore onlne. They have the SAME ISBN numbered textbooks and can get them to me with no hassle. Talk about easy and FAST
Use my preferred bookstore and find a world of cheap textbooks. After all, you're not going to be keeping them forever, are you? You want CHEAP, use them and Sell them back!

ISBN is Really a Marketing and Identification Program
The International Standard Book Number system is supported by the publishers. The whole intent is to be able to identify a title or edition of a specific title from a particular publisher. This makes it easier for libraries, bookstores, and other parts of the book and textbook distribution system to locate the books or inventory they need.
So while we may consider the ISBN system a good way to identify a book, it's initial design wasn't for the benefit of the consumer.
The ISBN textbook and other manuscript number consists of 4 parts.
Group or country identifier. - Where it's published geographically
Who is the Publisher
Title Identifier
Check Digit to validate the ISBN number
There are over 160 agencies that can issue an ISBN number. They are exclusively responsible for assigning the numbers to publishers based on a specific country or geographic area.
These ISBN textbook numbers also help us consumers to get the right book. Many revisions and editions of a specific book have been known to make changes that may or may NOT include a sub-title, etc. This in turn could cause confusion on which book you actually want to find. By using a standard ISBN number, you are assured of "talking the same language" as the book distribution channel. This channel includes not only the publisher but also the distributor, wholesaler, and retail bookstore.
