Wedding Photography in Johannesburg

Here are some useful tips when photographing a wedding:

(1) Always plan for bad weather conditions and make sure there is an indoor venue to take photographs should the weather turn bad

(2) Keep some colourful umbrellas handy as these can prove to be very useful and also make for some interesting photographs

(3) Always try to meet the wedding co-coordinator so that you are aware of the planned proceedings and discuss various options

(4) Always try to speak to the minister before the day of the wedding to get an outline of the ceremony

(5) Ask to be seated near the main table if you are photographing the reception

(6) always drive to the venue prior to the day of the wedding at around the same time as the wedding is planned to begin to familiarise yourself with the route and also to make sure you know how long it will take you

(7) tell the bride to have her make-up done slightly darker than usual as flash can drain out the skin colour

(8) make sure your equipment has been tested the day before the wedding and if possible have a backup camera on hand (at the very least have backup lenses, batteries memory sticks etc)

(9)Familiarise yourself with the venue beforehand and look for good spots to do group shots, unusual shots of the couple, etc.

Don't forget to take into account where the sun will be at the time of the wedding

(10) Take control. You have a responsibility to give the bridal couple beautiful photographs so you may have to tell people what to do or ask people to move out the way, etc.


Remember, weddings consist of a series of special moments that cannot be repeated, so be prepared and don't try to cut any corners.
