Thai Boxing and Scuba Diving 

Good or Bad?

The answer is not black or white.

Thai boxing training and scuba diving can be fit together into one vacation. But with care. Coming back from scuba diving the nitrogen level in your blood is higher than normal. This is an after effect from breathing compressed air under pressure. If your nitrogen level gets too high, the nitrogen will form bubbles in your bloodstream. This can be very dangerous for ones health or even end in a deadly scuba diving accident. To avoid this, scuba divers make safety or decompression stops on their accent.

Now what has this to do with Thai boxing?
Even though a diver is out of danger after his decompression stop, in many the nitrogen level is only just out of the red zone and will continuously drop to a normal level during the next 24 hours. right after diving and even several hours after diving the nitrogen level is still significantly higher than by a non diving person. Entering the ring wit a prior charged nitrogen level, where heavy breathing and a constant physical strain will increase the nitrogen level in the blood further is therefor obviously not a good idea.

If you want to combine scuba diving and Thai boxing or Muay Thai Training, you will have to be careful with your dive profile and let several hours go by before you go training.
