Island of Curacao
Curacao
Curacao, A Caribbean Paradise
Maybe you have sometimes dreamed about going on holiday to a caribbean island; it is on the wish list of many people.
One of the islands is Curacao and if you would pick the island of curacao, then you are in for a real treat; a holday you will never forget.
Curacao or "Korsou" in the local tongue, or written as Curaçao as it should actually be written, is a small island in front of the Venezuelan coast.
Curacao is a melting pot, with more than 50 different nationalities living on the island. Most of Curacao's 130,000 residents live in and around the historic town of Curacao, Willemstad.
Curacao is a long, arid, and generally flat island, stretching some 40 miles (64 km) from southeast to northwest, at much the same north-south angles as it's sister islands in the ABC group (Aruba to the west and Bonaire to the east). Geographically, Curacao is part volcanic, part coral and part sediment, and has one mountain Christoffel, at 1,239 feet (377 meters) the highest elevation on Curacao.
One of the best kept secrets are the beautiful white sand beaches and secluded coves of Curaçao, especially appealing to honeymooners, couples and others not looking for long, expanses of sand crowded with hotels.
Curacao now has its first 18-hole golf course at the Blue Bay Golf Resort, designed by Rocky Roquemore. If you prefer, you can tee off with a round beside the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea.
But you can do a lot more at Curacao; ride a horse through native trails and old plantations or act out your pirate fantasies with a cruise through Spanish waters to Barbara beach and a barbeque picnic.
Or see the beautiful Curacao nature, hills and valleys, dramatic rock formations, old plantation homes, former slavery huts and swim, snorkel or just relax at two of the most wonderful beaches of Curacao.
Curacao is exceptionally good for diving, with more than 60 identified divespots. Curacao is characterized by its Dutch Caribbeanarchitecture, full of gabled roofs, red tiles, and colorful building facades. Curacao has been voted top three in the Caribbean for shore diving in 2004. There is even an anual festival has diving on Curacao as it's central theme.
And if you are looking for the nightlife exitement, don't worry. Curacao has bars, discotheques, beach clubs and many night clubs (adult).
What ever you are looking for, you will find it at the exotic Caribbean island Curacao and you will be sure of one of the best vacations of your life.
