Fun Facts about Israelis in the Eurovision
- Shiri Maimon
- Shiri Maimon, the Israeli singer from the 2005 competition, finished second in "A Star is Born" (i.e. the Israeli version of "American Idol"). Her song "The Silence Remains" came in third place in the Eurovision song contest.
- Boaz Mauda
- Boaz Mauda represented Israel in the 2008 Eurovision. He won first place in "A Star is Born".
- Dana International
- Dana International's albums sold many copies in Egypt and Jordan - countries not known for their love of Israeli musicians.
- Teapacks Button Song
- Teapacks (also known as Tipex) caused quite a storm with their "Push the Button" entry in 2007. The politically loaded song about dictators with nukes combined with an odd choice of melody made international headlines.
- Israels Eurovision History
- Israel won back-to-back titles in 1978 and 1979, but did not defend the championship in 1980.

- Thanks! The last big hope was Shiri Maimon's song from a few years ago. There's another famous Israeli singer named Ninet who could definitely win the competition. Unfortunately she hasn't tried out for the Eurovision yet.
