Discover the pleasure of starting the day with love :-)

An Italian Breakfast: light, healty and delicious

I will tell you frankly: italians are terified when they come to U.K., or to US, and they are going to eat bacon, eggs, fried potatoes for breakfast. Nothing bad about that, of course, but nutrition experts tell us that breakfast sholuld be one of the main meals of the day, and limiting fats in breakfast will allow you to have a better health and a clearer mind.
Fortunately, Italian breakfast includes usually just fruits, milk, few cereals or biscuits and orange juice.
And from breakfast to dinner, learn how to realize your own italian recipes without studying new ones every time. Don't learn an Italian recipe. Learn the secrets of Italian Cooking, and use it yourself!

Simple. Light. Sweet.

Yes, I know most people from US, UK and other countries like eating bacon or eggs for breakfast. Even in China many eats SALTED STUFF in the morning, and maybe it's not totally wrong.
Sweet flavour lower a little the digestion process, and involves often the usage of refined sugar, which is sometimes indicated as a not-so good aliment.
But... THE GOOD NEW is that it tastes good! It makes your humour go up, and it provides for you an immediate boost of energy.
So if you like sweets, maybe breakfast is the best moment to have it.

But let's go to Italian Breakfast:
Milk (Yes, of course I mean Cappuccino :-)), Coffee, orange juice and a Cornetto (I mean a Croissant). More, some bread (natural wholewheat is better if you like it) with honey or jam. And, of course, fresh fruit.
Don't be afraid of having an abundant breakast.. you will keep yourself lighter in the evening, to go sleeping well and have WONDERFUL DREAMS :-)
more on the next..
Have a nice Day!

How to make a Perfect Cappuccino

It's NOT just milk and coffee...

No kidding, please... making a Cappuccino is a fine art that you should not understimate :-)
The ways for doing a good cappuccino are two:
1-with a steam machine (the original way)
2-with an electric whipper (at home)

In both cases, cappuccino MUST have these characteristics:

1-It must NOT be boiling, or too hot! Sipping cappuccino is a delicate pleasure... so milk must be heated mildly.. a bit hotter than environment temperature, but much colder than boiling.
2-It is NOT caffelatte (milk and coffee). Cappuccino must have a firm froth. The test for it? sugar will not sink, but remain on top of it.
3-cocoa powder: there is a debate about it.. most people appreciate it. In any case, even if most bar put it on the top of froth, it should be better put on the border of the cup. Any other solutions are not reported :-)
4-froth: (very important) it must be mild and bubbles should be very subtle. In order to obtain this effect, "knock" your milk jug kindly on the table for a few times, and then do a little horizontal round movement.

Here below all the steps:
1-prepare a coffee, and pour it into the cup.
2-heat the milk in the milk jug (not too hot, please :-)) with the steam machine (or whip the heated milk with the whipper -[never heat already whipped milk, it will muck up the froth]) doing some vertical movements in order to have an homogeneous froth.
3-gently pour the milk into the cup. This part is very important: shake gently the jug sideways in order to allow froth to come out well.
During this part, some waiters can create beautiful designs :-) with froth...
please try it! it will amaze you how easy is to make somebody happy, seeing a beautiful flower in a cup!! :-)
4-if you like, you can add some cocoa powder (somebody put it before)

5-THANKS... enjoy :-)

Cornetto!

let's say.. croissant.. brioche..

Here we are at the 2nd pillar of Italian breakfast..
The Name
Cornetto! This is the italian name for croissant, especially in the south.
But, actually, if you want a croissant in Italy you'll better ask for a.. Brioche! Yes, as often happens, foreign words get slightly different meanings abroad.. so then, brioche (which is not exactly the same product in france) is the most used name in Italy for this delicious, indispensable part of Italian breakfast.
Have it!
In Italy, in every bar we find at least 3 options: plain "brioche", with jam (usually apricot), or with.. Nutella (mmh..) or chocolate.
The Italian National Sport (after football, of course) is dippind the brioche into the cappuccino.. it's very healthy for the happiness of your day! :-)
Making it
Making a good cornetto at hoe would be quite a long work, because you would need to make some Pasta Sfoglia, wich requires long time and work.. maybe I will post something about in the next times.
In the meanwhile, I give you 2 options to taste a croissant:
the first, is.. to go to a bar :-) (better an italian one)
the second, is to buy some frozen ready croissant and cook them by yourself in the oven. It is not the best, but sometimes you can find something good.

But if you really want to cook your own croissant.. ok, I let you the link below to a good recipe.

Orange Juice Benefits

Discover here unknown benefits of an orange-juice based breakfast

Orange Juice is a fundamental part of the Typical Italian Breakfast.
In particular, Sicily is a very famous region for excellent oranges, which are used for many dishes and sweets.
But, a glass of fresh, hand juiced orange juice is an excellent way to increase your intake of antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes and to keep yourself not only healthy, but happy too..!
Actually, don't understimate the daily ritual to get in contact with nature in a very simple way.. enjoying the fresh taste of it!
Also, many researchs say that the best moment for assuming fruit is before noon, or at least before 4pm (but my grandmom also said it..: "l'arancia è oro al mattino, ferro al pomeriggio e piombo la sera" tr. "orange is gold in the morning, iron in the afternoon and lead in the evening :-) :-)" So, take your vitamin booster as early as possible, in the morning, and get started at your best :-)

Yooooogurt

Light, Healthy, Delicious

Yogurt is part of mediterranean diet sice centuries. Historical reports say that ancient greek and romans used to have yogurt as part of their diet.
Even having nutrition facts similar to milk, not all people know that yogurt is much more digestible: actually, it contains lactase, a special enzyme dedicate to lactose digestion.
It's for this reason that many people who doesn't like milk can still consume yogurt.

What I suggest, is to have your breakfast yogurt cup in natural - white version; complete, if possible, or in skim version.
If you're not on a diet, please try the greek, fat one... very caloric (have it once in a week), but amazing, especially with Honey.

Personally, I'm not so enthusiastic about packed fuit yogurt.. usually, it has much refined sugar and sometimes food colouring and preservatives...
much better, prepare yourself your breakfast with fresh ingredients..
Actually, the food you prepare yourself at the moment has.. what can I say..? The fresh energy of a sunny wake up :-)

>>p.s. have you tried Yogurt with Fresh Strawberries, honey and Pink Pepper in grains? Let me know..
