Blast Off!
I'm not really, really a rocket scientist, but I come close enough for most people. It should go without saying that there are some topics of math and physics (my main subjects) and other sciences that are pretty inscrutable, but it too often goes without saying that there are many, many topics of math and physics and other sciences that everyone can understand and enjoy.
On my blog (Bearcastle Blog : Cerebral Spectroscopy) I sometimes write about subjects from science and math; always for fun, sometimes it's silliness, sometimes it's more serious in intent, but always I intend it for everyone. The category for those articles is "It's Only Rocket Science", because I don't think people should let themselves be intimidated by those subjects -- at least not when I write about them.
Reading about science isn't as easy as reading popular novels -- even for rocket scientists! Some ideas take time to absorb. Allow yourself the time to think about the ideas, roll them around on your tongue to get the full taste, and don't get anxious if all the pieces don't fit together right away. Great ideas take time to take in.
