im 14 and get a lot of stick at school for having small boobs and never really know what bra is right and which look good on me, i looked on the website for the little bra company but its american and i live in the uk so i'd love to find a uk based company!!
  • cjsysreform May 22, 2012 @ 2:14 am | delete
Hi Eve. I don't know what size you are, but check out Panache Atlantis and After Eden. I believe both of these are UK brands, and they come in AA cups. Look for them on figleaves.com.

I still can't find a normal everyday wire-free bra in 36AA! I sympathize with Sarah, who is looking for a 38 AA(I'd love to try one...might even fit better than 36AA, but I've never seen one!).
  • cjsysreform Apr 25, 2012 @ 10:23 pm | delete
Hi Nancy, please email me at info@32aabra.com and I can offer you some recommendations. Let me know how much padding you like, as there are some nice options in unlined/unpadded bras as well as contour molded-cup styles.

I appreciate your healthy attitude towards small breasts. In this world of artificially inflated breasts, it's refreshing. I know your focus is on petites but it would be great if you could give a nod (and some advice) to your small breasted sisters who aren't petite. You can't imagine how hard it is to be 56 years old and STILL looking for a well-fitting 38AA bra.
  • cjsysreform Mar 31, 2012 @ 12:38 am | delete
    Hey Sarah,

I actually do understand what you're going through... at least, as much as I can, having not experienced it personally. I've heard from lots of other small-breasted but not petite women like yourself who are seeking bras in size 38-42 AA, A and B. It's not right that all of you have such a hard time finding a good fit -- I absolutely believe that every woman, no matter what her size, has a right to a well-fitting bra that flatters her figure. We are all beautiful and we all deserve a proper fit in a bra! I have a size 40AA in Flatter Me, by Jane Hogdon, and I've been looking for someone to try on this bra and review it for my blog. If you think you might be able to wear a 40AA, please let me know! If not, I can certainly give you some recommendations for what to try in a 38AA. Please contact me at info@32aabra.com for personalized suggestions. Thanks and best regards, Amanda Sage

Thanks Jen, you handled a touchy subject with grace and charm, while proving a wealth of useful information. I've been trying to shopping for my asian (petite) fiancee and I decided to send her a link to your video. I think she has been wearing bras too big for her be cause she thinks bigger is better. She knows I think she is great as she is . Maybe your video will help lend some unbiest perspective.
  • cjsysreform Feb 22, 2012 @ 8:11 am | delete
Great to hear you liked Jen's video... so do I. :) Please feel free to contact me at info@32aabra.com, or have your fiancee do so if she'd like some help with finding a great push-up bra that doesn't swallow up her petite frame.

I really appreciate all the comments on this thread. I thought I would share my experience with bra fitting in case it is of value to anyone else. Thanks Amanda for sending me some bras to try on.
I love the Zee Bra - it is so comfortable I don't even know I am wearing it. I would wear a 32 in any other bra, but this is a 30A which fits great around the ribcage. The Itty Bitty bra in 34A was too big in the band and too close set in front. The 32B was snug around, but not right with the wires and would have needed added pads anyway. But the bras themselves looked great - I wish one had fit me. I will try the Timpa Duet in a 32B which Amanda recommended. (FYI - my measurements are 32 bust and 28.5 under).
And by the way, I love the Itty Bitty bra thing - I definitely feel my boobs have gone from small to itty bitty and there's no point saying it any other way.
  • cjsysreform Jan 31, 2012 @ 8:35 am | delete
Thanks so much for sharing your feedback on the Zee Bra and Itty Bitty Bras! I'm sure other visitors here will find it quite helpful. You've been a lovely client to work with, and please do email me or leave a comment here when you get the Timpa; I'd love to know how that ends up fitting. If it is too large in the cups and you like the style, I'd recommend trying a size 32A next (The cups in Timpa bras are set somewhat wider apart than average, so you may have better luck with their 32A than you've had in other brands).
    Warm regards, Amanda

I understand that the "itty bitty" bra guide is supposed to be a cutesy way of talking about smaller breasts; however, I find the moniker somewhat annoying and offensive. I don't want to be spoken to with baby talk just because I don't have massive breasts. I really appreciate the advice: but I'd appreciate it more if you dropped the baby talk- we're all big girls here.
  • cjsysreform Jan 31, 2012 @ 8:15 am | delete
    Hi Tami,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate your taking the time to comment.
The phrase "itty bitty," as I am using it here, is quite tongue-in-cheek. I enjoy making light of things when it seems appropriate, and let's face it: an entire web page about small bras is perhaps a little absurd. That doesn't mean I don't respect my readers.
I don't know if you've noticed, but I respond to comments on this page with genuine interest and a good deal of careful thought. I am not "cutesy," and I don't use baby talk.
  • skinny minnie Feb 6, 2012 @ 12:56 am | delete
I actually like that you use the phrase "itty bitty". It gives a little humor to a topic that most women of our size don't like talking about.

Hello! Thanks for sharing all this info! I'm a 32A or 32AA (depending on weight, etc) as well. I've found some good success with the Triumph line of petite bras (available in A & B cups, not AA though, sadly). They have a variety of lined, wired, padded and push up bras to choose from. While the rest of the Triumph line has been hit-or-miss for me, the petites have been really good overall as I am tiny (barely 5') and very small boned. They are available in Canada and the UK, not sure if they are available in the US. (www.triumph.com)
  • cjsysreform Jan 22, 2012 @ 7:05 am | delete
Hey Elizabeth! Thanks for the information on Triumph petite bras. I've heard of the brand but have not yet tried them. Sounds like I should... it's going on my list. :)

I have also heard about Triumph Petites- I was recently thinking about trying them. It's harder to find a bra in size 34 A :(

Hi Kate! If you do try Triumph's petite line, I'd love to know what you think of the style and fit. If you have a minute, please post here to let other readers know about your experience with this brand. Thanks so much, and best of luck to you in your search for a great bra! ~Amanda

thanks so much for the help i'm bout 5'3 and about 85 lbs (believe me I tried gaining weight but I play high intensity sports 5 days a week and any gain was lost quickly) . I had a super delayed puberty and a year and a half or so later nothing much has changed so finding the right fit of for my 32As has helped cool my jealousy of my busty sisters!
  • cjsysreform Jan 29, 2012 @ 10:27 pm | delete
Hey, thanks for the feedback! The right fit really can do wonders.

Listen, everybody: when a bra doesn't fit, it's not your body that is wrong. It's the bra. That is all. :)
  • skinny minnie Feb 6, 2012 @ 1:00 am | delete
I commend you on playing sports because I always thought I was too small to play them. I'm 5'3 and 80 lbs and I've tried to gain weight too but it's been no use. I also find that the right fitting bra can do wonders for my confidence.
  • cjsysreform Mar 31, 2012 @ 12:50 am | delete
You are never too small (or too big, or "too" anything) to enjoy playing sports. Fun is for everyone, no matter what size or shape! I really hope you eventually feel good enough about yourself to do whatever you want to do... because you have the right to enjoy life at your current size. I totally know what it's like to have a hard time gaining weight. Unfortunately there is not much sympathy out there for us, as everyone thinks we should just feel lucky to be thin. If only it were that easy. I wish all women could see past the superficial body-image stuff and realize that we are all sisters... yeah it sounds cheesy, but it's also true. I wish you the best, and please feel free to contact me anytime if you need someone to talk to. Best regards, Amanda ~ info@32aabra.com

Hi there. Here's my story in a nutshell. I'm 5'8", 115 lbs. I've been thin my whole life and don't gain weight unless I'm pregnant. I've had 3 kids and breast fed all of them for over a year. After my last child my normally large A to small B breasts flattened out and deflated to an A cup. After several friends had successful implant surgeries and loved their results I did something out of character and got implants too. Nothing huge... A small C. I freaked on the way they felt inside my body and because of that and some other reasons had them removed after 7 weeks. Crazy, I know. So now I've got even smaller breasts. I'm probably a AA. No volume. I would love to find a comfortable bra with a little shape enhancing padding (but nothing real thick). I've been unsuccessful so far, and the search is so emotionally draining for me, I've given up. My biggest problems are these... Underwire digs into my sternum (because I have no breast tissue to fill up the cups and pull the wire away from my body), cups have gaps (because there's nothing to fill them in), cups ride up because theres nothing to jold them in place, and cups are set too close together. I'm a 34. Do you have any suggestions??? I struggle every day with my self esteem and self image regarding my breasts. And I regret everyday ever getting the implants. I hope that someday I can fully love my breasts and body for what it is and not wish it looked different. Thank you for your positivity and self love!!!

Hi Marie, thanks for sharing your story here! I would like to get your measurements so I can be sure of your size before offering recommendations. Please send me an email at info@32aabra.com or post here with your underbust, fullest bust, and overbust measurements and I will get back to you as soon as possible (usually within one or two days).
    Warm regards,

I know how you are feeling about some things. I was always small chested (34A), then after 3 kids and breastfeeding I was also a little droopy and deflated. I was depressed about my smallness then but recently I lost 20 lbs and I am now feeling very tiny-weeny on top. I am 5'4" and about 110lbs. I like how I look generally now except for my boobs.and ribcage showing, but the bottom half is at least in better proportion, and not so pear shaped anymore. And I also struggle with my self esteem because of my boobs. Its hard not to be focused on that one thing that's not great about ourselves, even when we have so many other great things about us.

I hope you find a wonderful fitting and sexy feeling bra because it does help. I am in the process of finding something that doesn't have a lot of padding. I like how the padding looks under clothes, but when I take it off at night I am so depressed again - I want to get used to my body as it is and love it - like you say. I hope you find what you are looking for! I am happy to know I am not the only woman with these struggles.
  • writefromhome Dec 16, 2011 @ 1:14 am | delete
I have been crazy busy and stressed about many things - still unhappy about my shrunken boobage and bras that don't look like me. I know there was a comment on my earlier post (Sept 29) but there is nothing there now. I was going to check what was suggested - and ask about what you do for sending out sizes to try. Which bras do you have? I'd like something a little more natural than these push-ups that are so heavily padded, but I'm not sure what size is best.
  • cjsysreform Dec 16, 2011 @ 4:55 am | delete
Hello again. :) I remember that I posted an answer in response to your previous comment, but I'm not sure what happened to it. Sorry about that! My suggestion for you was to try a different style in size 32B, perhaps something with less coverage in the cup.

I think the problem you are dealing with may not be so much about sizing; it could have more to do with the angle of the underwires and all that push-up padding. For myself, I find it is much more difficult to find a good fit in heavily padded bras -- and I tend to avoid them for that reason.

I will be happy to send you some bras to try. Please email me at info@32aabra.com with your mailing address, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can -- usually within 1-2 business days. You can also call or send me a text message at 831 272 2564 (831-BRA-BLOG). I know the search for the right bra can be frustrating, and I think I can make it a lot easier on you! Thanks, Amanda

  • June Oct 26, 2011 @ 6:54 pm | delete
Thank you, good blog! I am decidedly not petite, at 5'9", just slender. Very happy to have small bust, but having a lot of trouble finding a bra that fits. Wearing 34B on smallest setting, wires fit under the boobs perfectly but I don't fill up the cups! 32B the cups way too close together and the diameter of the wires is wrong, it's too small and too deep.

Actual measurements wearing a sports bra (boobs might have been a little squished): 32" above bust, 34" at bust, 30" below bust. Wide-set, measuring nipple-to-nipple 8", breasts decidedly shallow in shape.

Any recommendations, small-bra-goddess? I think what may be needed is a Very Shallow Runs Small in Cup 32C? Do you know which brands run "flat" like this? I begin to despair, it seems that wire size is always correlated with volume in bras, but NOT in women.
  • cjsysreform Oct 28, 2011 @ 6:55 am | delete
Ok, for shallow wide-set breasts with your measurements I'd say you're right on -- try a 32C in any of the following: Natori Feathers (my current favorite); Wacoal Petites #75627; and/or Timpa Duet Lace Demi (top right on this page). You might need a 34C in the Timpa, but try the 32 first. Good luck, and let me know how it goes!
  • June Nov 10, 2011 @ 6:11 am | delete
Thank you! I did get a timpa lace demi in 32c it fits like a charm, band is tight but I can get 2 fingers under, so think this is the right size. Cups are very shallow and stretchy and definitely wide and apart enough to fit right.

Also got the OnGossamer Bump It Up in the 32c; the band on this one is very stretchy and a little too big, oddly, it's about like my 34s but they do not make a size 30 band and it was a good price and is very flattering under some sorts of clothing.

Thank you again, I am going to try the Natori Feathers next - it is very nice to have a nonpadded and a push up that fit but for work it would be good to have somethings with the thin padding for smoothness but not push up pads.
  • cjsysreform Nov 12, 2011 @ 12:41 am | delete
Yes, the Timpa bra is meant to fit tight in the band -- that's so you can wear it under anything, even sheer and/or thin tops and dresses.

The Natori Feathers bra is really beautiful. It's also lightweight and easy to wear all day, so I would definitely recommend it for work. I wear mine underneath blouses, sleeveless shell camis with suit jackets, and shift dresses. It's not a t-shirt bra, but you already have that with the Timpa.
  • June Nov 26, 2011 @ 6:47 pm | delete
Reporting back on the Natori Feathers. Beautiful, cups are shallow, no gapping. The band is a little looser, like the OnGossamer, but definitely fits comfortably, does not move around, I can pull the band lower in back and it stays. Underwires were poking me in the sternum, not sure what that says about the sizing? Anyway, I shoved them around and bent them some and it works better now. It is a great work bra, the right amount of padding to make everything smooth but not make me look bigger.

So now from none that fit to one contour, one stretchy unpadded, one push up. A full complement of bras. Thank you very much, your advice was right on.

And LOL at the Timpa as a t-shirt bra, it sure is but definitely only for the small busted and brave, it is very flattering - slight lift and looks like wearing nothing but since no padding/smoothing can be very sexy looking under anything tight.
  • cjsysreform Dec 15, 2011 @ 6:17 am | delete
Hi June, thanks for coming back to talk about the Feathers bra! The more I wear this one, the more I love it. It seems to have molded itself to my shape now, like a great pair of jeans.

Not sure what was up with the underwires poking you in the sternum, but I'm glad to hear that you managed to fix this.
  • Liz Sobieck Oct 24, 2011 @ 1:24 pm | delete
I love all the info you have! Thank you for providing it!!

I'm on a mission to find a comfortable bra, for a nearly a cup. My only concern is I don't want something thickly lined but I don't want to show off my "headlights" either. Suggestions?
  • cjsysreform Oct 28, 2011 @ 7:04 am | delete
Hi Liz! For comfort, you can't beat the Wacoal B-Smooth Bralette (featured farther down on this page); I find it provides enough coverage for my small nipples, and it gives a nice natural shape too. Order your usual band size and it should fit great.
  • writefromhome Sep 29, 2011 @ 1:43 am | delete
I'm confused about how bras are sized. I have been wearing a 34A forever, but after 3 kids they did seem emptier in the cup. Now I just lost 15 pounds that snuck up on me (mostly lower body) but lost 1 1/2" from my already small chest. I assumed by measuring that I would be a 32AA or less, but after fitting some bras in a store I fit better in the 32B. Doesn't make sense to me. The 32A had cups too close together so 32B is wider but should be too big in cup - how does that make sense? (my above chest measures 32" and my bustline measures 31 1/2").
  • maryruss@juno.com (Mary Russell) Sep 25, 2011 @ 7:11 pm | delete
Luv your site but still unsure of what I need. I had the Platex bra that was discont. b/c I was between an A and a B. Because I was a 36 band size (I'm not petite!) even with the "almost B" the cup was partially empty. I'm now 5'7-1/2" and weigh approx. 139 lbs. Still have small chest. Think 36 more comfort. than 34. What bra would you recommend?

  • cjsysreform Sep 26, 2011 @ 8:29 am | delete
One of my favorites for pre-teens is the Jockey t-shirt bra. It has just enough padding to provide some shape and coverage, but not too much... and it's very lightweight and comfortable. It is available at multiple online stores, including Amazon; just follow one of the links from this page to the Amazon site and do a search for "jockey girls t-shirt bra."
  • Tiffany Sep 8, 2011 @ 11:14 pm | delete
Hi thanks for sharing so much for us small busted people! Even though you had alot of good info for AA and bigger I think I may be a challenge... I think I must be an AAA or smaller! I'm prretty much a chest with nipples. I used to be a (Australian)10A then had my first child, breast fed, went down to a 10AA, had my second child, breast fed and I cannot find any bra that fits. The bras I wear now have full tear drop shape padded cups to make me look like an AA but I have heaps of room to spare. With these bras I also cannot wear singlet tops or dresses with straight necklines as you can easily see the top of the cups. Summer is coming up down here and I am dreading it. I had depression between my first and second child with losing a bra size and now that I have gone down even more I am scared that it will happen again. I don't really know what I want from you... I think I either have to accept that I look like a prepubesent boy of save up and get implants.
  • cjsysreform Sep 26, 2011 @ 8:19 am | delete
    Hi Tiffany,

Check out LulaLu.com for size AAA bras. They have some beautiful options... you don't need implants! It's possible that you may also need to go down one band size, so perhaps try an 8AA; this will have smaller cups than the 10AA and may fit you better. If the band is too tight, try a bra extender to lengthen it.

You really deserve to feel better than this about your body. The right bra can help a lot... don't give up, Tiffany! You're beautiful as you are, and there are options out there for you.

I am always happy to communicate privately with readers, so please feel free to contact me anytime at info@32aabra.com.

Just wanted to write to let you know that being flat chested is not so bad as you get older. For one thing you will look less matronly as your friends boobs get soft and saggy. If you stand up straight put your shoulders back you will look better in your clothes. Models are not big chested (except underwear models). I am small enough that heavily padded and push up bras just don't work, there's nothing to push up. I find a moderately padded bra, just enough to smooth things out under t-shirts works wonders. Be care with teen bras, the cups are too close together for most adult women. I like the Zee Bra, http://thezeebra.com/
The pads are ajustable and the bra is comfortable.

I have seen several of my friends get implants. They look fake and to me if you have a flat chest to begin with, they just look like bowls setting on your chest. Also two of my friends have had to have theirs re-operated on because of internal scars hardening and contractures.

Good luck and be proud of your sleek body, We all don't have to be Victoria Secret Models.

Heyy! I firstly want to thank you because it is so good to know there are other people feeling the same way as me. I am actually from Australia and although we use a different band size system (8 not 32, 10 not 34) we have the same cup sizes and I'm in-between the AA and A and was wondering if you knew of any good bras sold in Australia? Thanks ! ( also I am usually a 10/34 but can also fit into an 8/32 :)

Hey ToriAnne! Check out SugarChilli at http://www.sugarchilliswimwear.com.au/lingerie.html. This is an Australian online store that sells bikini tops and push-up bras in small sizes, including 10AA (34AA) and 8A (32A). For small A cups, you may want to try a 32A because the cups will fit similar to a 34AA. They offer a $5 gift voucher when you sign up for their newsletter.

Hi Elizabeth. Ann Taylor Loft has some nice things in petite sizes, although if you are under 5'2" it may be difficult to find hems that aren't too long. I have a suit from there in a size 0P, and the trousers are about as long as I can get away with (I'm 5'4"). The suit fits great otherwise. I'd have it tailored if I weren't planning to wear it with heels.

I am so glad I found you! Thank you for existing. Finding a bra has been impossible (I still have five year old bras from the time my Mom happened to find some 32 nearly A's at Kohls). I feel so relieved that someone isn't telling me to change the way I am (and the way I like it!) just to find something beautiful. I'm so excited to find bras that fit and follow suggestions from other petite women. Thank you thank you!

Thank YOU, Katherine. Comments like this always make me really, really happy. I'm sure we can help you find a beautiful bra that doesn't change your natural shape.

Omg THANK YOU for this!! I'm a very petite 26 year old and I haven't bought a new bra since my 2nd year of college because I could never find anything in my size (32AA)! You have no idea how helpful this page has been for me and AMAZING reading all this has made me feel about my body. It's tough when all of your girlfriends have been blessed with C cups or bigger and you're constantly feeling like you don't "measure up." I'm so grateful to you!

I am tall. I can never find a bra that fits. If the cup fits, the straps are too short and cut into my shoulders. I look for 38 AA. Any suggestions
  • cjsysreform May 9, 2011 @ 1:18 pm | delete
Hi Anne. A reader of this page who wears a 38AA is a fan of the Barely There Flawless Fit bra (featured above). She is tall as well, so you might want to try that one out.
  • laura Apr 23, 2011 @ 10:50 pm | delete
    thanks for making this.
i'm tall and thin, but very flat so petite bras don't fit me well(to be honest, i don't think i've ever had a bra that fit properly)
i usually just buy whichever bra comes closest to fitting.

thanks for letting me know i'm not the only one who struggles with this.

you should also make an account on tumblr ^_^

It seems like all the bra companies have forgotten about us small but mighty women. I'm now 64 and wear a 34AA. I measure a 32A but find the cups are too close together and I bulge out on the sides. I take a small tuck in the band of the 34 and it fits perfectly. Now I need to find 34 AA's since Playtex doesn't carry them anymore. Will try your suggestions.

I'm having difficulty trying to find the right bra for me. I thought I was a 32A most of my life but the bras that I have seem to cut off some breast tissue towards the sides, and the bra rides up in the bottom. I tried a 32B thinking that my cup size was all wrong, it covered all of the breast tissue that the 32A was cutting off but I wasnt getting any lift and there were gaps on the top of the cup. I've measured myself and I have gotten measured at stores, and they all tell me I'm a 32A. I'm so confused.
  • cjsysreform Apr 8, 2011 @ 7:06 am | delete
32A is a size that varies wildly according to the brand, style, and about a million other things. So even if you've got the right size, it sounds like you need more coverage and a wider base. I recommend the Calvin Klein level 3 Seductive Comfort Customized Lift bra; it does come in a 32A and is full-coverage, so it should fit you better than the others you've tried.
  • small butmighty Mar 3, 2011 @ 3:54 pm | delete
Bras are uncomfortable because the band wants to ride up and over the lower half of my boobs. I don't remember this happening before I had babies. Is it because my breasts are less dense now? I'm a AA and usually just buy my bras in the Target girls department. I've done the sizing and keep coming up 34AA. Is there an option I'm missing that won't ride up on me? I'd pay dearly for it!
  • cjsysreform Mar 4, 2011 @ 6:27 am | delete
Bras made for girls often run smaller than those designed for adult women... so even if you bought the correct size, they are probably not fitting you properly. Try a 34AA from Wacoal Petites (see review above); these are sized for adults and will not ride up over your breasts.

Wow, glad I FINALLY found this site, I've been tempted to goto this local store to find a new bra that fits post breastfeeding a baby but my girls are REALLY sad looking. It's embarassing, but it's like my boobs now have "extra skin" and I can't find a bra that will keep them in! I measure 34a but I can find something that works for me, anyone else with this problem??
  • cjsysreform Feb 23, 2011 @ 1:52 am | delete
    Hello :)

Due to post-pregnancy changes, you need a bra that provides excellent support and a bit more lift than usual. The American Eagle Aerie Ella demi bra is a favorite among small-busted adult women who have "extra skin," as it is designed like a push-up without the bulky padding -- gives great lift and shape to your girls, feels comfortable, and never looks fake.

Depending on the size you wore before breastfeeding, you will need a 34A or 34AA.

Feel free to email me at info@32aabra.com anytime if you need more help!

Yes! Check out the Amoena brand at amoena.com. They carry 40A bras (and many other hard-to-find sizes). My favorite is the Lara wire-free with molded cups, which has recently come out in a handful of new pretty colors. Hi, the Nubra Super Padded bra is great for gals AA and A etc. They are totaly strapless. No bands anywhere. The stick on bra cups are hypoallergenic and they give you a full cup size bigger. http://nubra.net/shop/super_padded_featherlite-59-prd1.htm Since the cups are not tolally concave you don't have much to fill out!
  • cjsysreform Sep 15, 2010 @ 2:55 pm | delete
Thanks for the info on NuBra! I don't love sticky/adhesive cups myself, as they can in fact cause irritation in women with sensitive skin (i.e., me). But yes, they are a great solution for those who are able to tolerate the adhesive.

A little disappointed with my purchase at the Little Bra Company (the Lucia bra) since there were so many great reviews about their bras for small breasted women. Unfortunately, if you're average built like me (not shopping at petite stores; I'm 5'7 and 130lbs) but with smaller chest, this bra might not fit you as well. The Lucia is a beautiful bra but the cups are too close together for my average frame and the shoulder straps could have the option of being longer. I have my shoulder straps at the longest it could be and the back of my bra strap is pulled up my back about 3/4" higher than the front. For the price charged I got much better cleavage and fit with a LaSenza or Victoria Secret bra for much lower price.
  • cjsysreform Jun 18, 2010 @ 4:21 am | delete
    Hi Katherine,
You may want to try the Zee Bra, a new product designed by Lynn Saussy. It's made for women of average frame and shallow bust (cup size A/AA). I've got a review of this bra posted on my blog, at http://32aabra.com.

I wear a 32 A. Afetr I had a child my breast are slipping out beneath my bra's band. Am I wearing the wrong band size?
  • cjsysreform May 24, 2010 @ 4:48 pm | delete
Hi Wendy. If you are wearing the bra on its loosest hook and your breasts are still slipping out the bottom, then yes -- you will probably need to go up one band size. Your cup size may have changed as well, so it might be a good idea to go in for a bra fitting.

THANK YOU for this! I feel so alone sometimes...like I'm the only woman struggling with bras/clothes/self image. I'm committed to loving my body just the way it is too, and mostly I do but it's also hard when nothing seems to fit right.
I really want to try some of those 'chicken fillet's. ;) But what I'm struggling with is this: if I wouldn't do plastic surgery, how is this really so different? Sigh! Thoughts?
  • cjsysreform Feb 18, 2010 @ 9:46 am | delete
Hey Kris! I think the difference between "chicken fillets" (bra insert enhancer pads) and surgery is that when they're outside your body, it's safer and less expensive. Breast augmentation is a major procedure with significant pain, bruising, swelling, and recovery time... whereas with the bra inserts you do not have to get cut open, there is no risk of infection, and they don't hurt! If you get sick of them, you can take them out in half a second and be back to your usual figure.
    Is that enough? :)
  • kris Feb 18, 2010 @ 12:48 pm | delete
Oh, yes, I do realize the difference between the two as far as that goes. What I was really getting at was the larger context of body self acceptance vs. altering looks with either augmentation or inserts. Is it a cop out to *say* you love your body (or me, or whoever), then alter it with inserts? I'm trying to reconcile this for myself. :)
  • cjsysreform Feb 18, 2010 @ 6:21 pm | delete
Hmm, that's a good question... I guess I think of bra inserts as kind of like makeup for my boobs! I don't usually feel inadequate without them, unless I'm having one of those bad body image days. I don't wear them regularly but they are a big help with tailored clothes like suit jackets, which otherwise just don't fit me quite right.
  • Marie Jan 25, 2010 @ 3:23 pm | delete
I felt the need to add---I've searched high and low for bras that fit my 32A cup size, and the best I have found for a good price has been the Xhilaration brand (found at Target). Jockey's "training bras" aren't bad either, though not exactly in sexy styles.
  • cjsysreform Jan 28, 2010 @ 11:01 pm | delete
Hi Marie. If you're looking for good prices, you might also check eBay. I sell one or two little bras each week there, most of which are brand new with tags. Listings are posted on my blog at 32aabra.com, which also has a "small bra savings" category where you can find links to current sales and promotional offers.

THANK YOU. A million times over and over, THANK YOU. It is so easy to begin feeling "inadequate" when I shop for bras, adding the mediated images we constantly see of women with big plastic grapefruits on their chests and lavish cleavage. Nature made me this way, but I feel totally non-existent in lingerie departments- Anyone ever tried ANYTHING on at Fredericks? Good Luck, I look like a pre-pubescent girl playing dress-up. Last night, I realized that I do not own 1 bra that fits well. I have never owned a bra that fits properly, unless I fill it with padding, which as we all know is a complete pain in the neck. In a moment of desperation I found this guide and for the first time in a long time I feel that there is HOPE and that I will find a well-fitting AND flattering bra : )
  • cjsysreform Jan 10, 2010 @ 9:11 am | delete
You're welcome, Catherine! When you find a bra that fits well, I would love to hear about it. Feel free to leave another message here or on my blog (32aabra.com) -- I'm sure there are many other 34AA women out there who could use the info. Best of luck to you in your bra shopping adventures. ;)
  • Allie Jan 27, 2010 @ 3:15 am | delete
I am one such 34AA girly! I found this blog in a search today after hopelessly trying on numerous bras in Target and finding absolutely none in the adult section that didn't leave that empty pocket of air that needed to be filled. My favorite bras so far are those I've found in the kids' section - cute, but I really want to try some pushup/padded bras to get a fuller feel and I've yet to find any that work.

Do you know of anywhere to try on the recommended bras? I'm hesitant to purchase such expensive bras without even giving them a try yet - especially considering the track record I've had with bra fitting, even if they are recommended.
  • cjsysreform Jan 28, 2010 @ 10:15 pm | delete
Hey Allie! Most websites do allow returns, so you can order a bra and send it back if it doesn't fit. Lots of women are doing that from this page. Also, department stores usually carry Wacoal Petites and Playtex. Even if you can't find any AAs, try on bras in a 34 band as close to your cup size as possible (34A is much easier to find) to get a sense of how the brand fits you and whether you like their styles.
  • EuroSquid Jan 5, 2010 @ 8:20 pm | delete
As a male I would like to say that I dont believe that "bigger is better" when it comes to boobs. The real thing is SOO much better than implants. Nothing wrong with AA, and pear shape is also a fine shape. Just keep it in good shape.

I have a feeling that 10 years from now the same surgeons who are making a fortune putting in the plastic, will be making a fortune taking it out again.
  • cjsysreform Jan 10, 2010 @ 9:22 am | delete
Thanks for your comment. It's always lovely to hear from guys who find small breasts more attractive than plastic ones.
  • skittle-rain Jan 5, 2010 @ 8:51 am | delete
This blog entry was very comforting! I'm 18 years old and I have small to non-existent breasts :P I'm not sure of the exact size but i'm probably an AA, no doubt about that :) I have small breasts but i'm not exactly petite or proportionate. I'm severely pear shaped: i have no boobs and i have big butt (can you say juxtaposition?). Though i'm fine with being an aa there are times when i feel bad about my breasts, especially since most of my friends have big boobs or at least look like they have any (or at least proportionate :( ). I rarely see a girl who's an aa who's not 12 here, so it's very comforting to see that there are women out there, just like me, who did not give in to peer pressure and the media and get breast implants (au natural baby!), who are happy the way they are and who are actually in a good relationship with their partners :)

It gives a teenage girl a little hope :) thanks. A million.
  • cjsysreform Jan 10, 2010 @ 9:48 am | delete
Hey, thanks for writing. Your note reminded me of how hard it is, in this world, for teen girls to simply get through the day feeling satisfied and happy with their bodies. I'm really impressed with your determination to accept your natural shape, as difficult as that can be at times. It gets easier once you're past 30... but for now, keep up the fight to be recognized as the beautiful girl you are. <3
  • katlg87 Dec 14, 2009 @ 12:50 pm | delete
Thank god you made this page! I'm a aa to na, A is a rare occurrence for me. I'm just a pretty small person in general, so it doesn't generally bother me that I'm not quite an a. Plus, my husband loves my body as is.
But every girl gets self conscious on occasion, especially when clothes and bra shopping. Most tops are designed for b cups nevermind what size the top is. It gets frustrating. I like to dress to kill for my husband some of the time, something special now and then. But its hard to feel sexy those days you can't find a bra or top that fits well instead of making you feel too small.
This guide is a great self esteem booster. Thanks a million.
  • cjsysreform Dec 14, 2009 @ 3:00 pm | delete
You're welcome! I'm so glad I could help, and also happy to hear that your husband loves your small bust. Maybe there are guys out there who aren't attracted to size AA women... I guess they have a right to their preference. What matters is that we know we're hot and so do our men!

My sister and I are opposites too... funny how that happens. She's got an athletic frame with wide shoulders and C cup breasts, and no rear end to speak of.

I'm thinking about making a similar lens for curvy women who wear cup sizes D-DD. I don't have as much personal experience with this, but a close friend of mine is a 34DD and she has plenty of trouble finding bras that fit.

Hee hee, good lens. I can't quite take the advice - I've got the opposite problem (D - DD type, me), but I might have to point my sister here. She got the shapely bum and itsy bitsies... and I got almost the exact opposite :) Thanks for lensrolling my body types lens here... I'll add this one to it as well. A good fitting bra is essential to dressing right for your type too!

Hahah, two aspirins huh? That's one I haven't heard before. Send her on over here; perhaps the Pretty Bitty Bra Guide will give her a new burst of bra shopping inspiration.

I don't have this problem but my best friend does. Her husband once described her bosom as "two aspirins on an ironing board." Don't worry, she punished him for it! I've been with her when she's been searching for a small bra and she sometimes can't find anything at all that will fit or only one or two so never has much choice.
