Who is Jac Vanek

Jac Vanek is a former scene queen with some modeling experience. Vanek's scene style was more basic and more toned down compared to most other scene queens. Her style has changed from scene queen style to indie-rocker/gypsy/hippie style, and she's gone from blonde hair to red hair, as she has an affiinty for red hair and redheads. Vanek also attended college in southern California.

To pay partly for college, she began selling bracelets she designed for a few of her friends. Other people saw them and wanted to buy some as well. Soon enough, her bracelets turned into a full fledged product line, which she now sells in her own webstore located at JacVanek.com. (She also blogs there as well.)

During the spring and summer months, she can be found at concert festivals such as Bamboozle and Warped Tour, selling her items from her product line at her own booth. She's also known to be friends with many of bands and has even collaborated with some band members for bracelets in her product line.

Vanek used to date Ryan Ross, the guitarist from Panic at the Disco. As a result, she was accused of dating him only to get famous. She has pretty much brushed this criticism off, along with other criticisms of her fashion, her actions in relation to her acknowledging her Christianity, and the fact that so many young people are wearing products from her product line (especially the bracelets).

In fact, Jac addressed some of the rumors about herself in a March 30, 2009 Tumblr blog post. Here's what she said:

"I was going to make an update post about what's going on in my life, but I wanted to take a minute to address some of the things being said on certain 'gossip' sites about me first. I find it absolutely ludicrous, and at times insanely humorous, how 90% of the 'information' on these sites are COMPLETE FABRICATIONS with absolutely no substantial backbone whatsoever. I never understood the reason why some people find it necessary to make up lies to put others down with (or wait, you DID hear it from a friend of a friend of an uncle's housekeeper's blind and deaf pet rat, right? So it MUST be true!)."

"1. I am still a virgin. I find this kind of annoying that I have to use this fact as a defense, because my sex life is honestly no one else's business except my own, but whatever. You can ask ANY of my friends about that one, and you'll always get the same answer.
2. I just graduated from UCLA with a Regents Scholarship. No, I never dropped out. In fact, I am graduating early for my class.
3. I am a self employed / entrepreneur / business owner. I am slowly building an entire company that started out with absolutely nothing. Just because you haven't seen it yet, doesn't mean it's not there. I support myself entirely on my own, and I am working extremely hard to create a career and life style doing something I absolutely adore.

So, go read those rumors again, and I'm pretty sure these three simple facts will render practically everything useless.

In conclusion, instead of believing what the 'all knowing' INT3RN3TZ says about me, please come find me this summer at Warped and lets have a conversation before you make false assumptions about my character."

Just to be clear, I don't worship the girl or think she's perfect. Nobody's perfect. But there's a lot I do like about her.

For example, I like that she did go to college (& for photography & graphic design, no less- I love graphic design). In fact, that was the reason she started selling bracelets- to pay for part of her college tuition, since she didn't want a regular job. I love how she was able to create a very successful product line that originally started off with just a few bracelets for her friends. If you've checked out her website, you see how simple but cool and inspirational her stuff is. There's really something for everyone in her online store.

I can only hope to have a fraction of the success she's had with my Zazzle store, blogs, and Squidooing. But that is what I'm aiming for. Like Jac, I'd rather work for myself and be my own boss. As much as I do want a good-paying job right now because I need money, I don't want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. Owning your own business doing something you love and are successful at is very, very rewarding. And it's better to start when you're young. So good on Miss Vanek for starting such a successful business/product line at such a young age.
