Lugar for Congress?
When Hoosiers in the 5th Congressional District hear the last name Lugar, the first name that usually comes to mind is U.S. Senator Richard Lugar, but in this case the candidate's first name is Jack. The attorney and former Hollywood television writer is running for the seat currently held by incumbent Congressman Dan Burton.
Jack Lugar, Fishers Attorney and Small Business Owner, is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Indiana's 5th Congressional District. Indiana's Congressional Primary will be held May 8, 2012. "For years I have seen a decline in our leadership, and an inability to really understand the concerns of those in the 5th District. I believe that strength in character, determination, principled leadership, and integrity are core values that our representatives should have. I am convinced that a good leader lives his everyday life the same way that he would govern, and I aspire to that every day. I promise that when I'm elected to Congress, I will allow my Hoosier values to continue to guide me while maintaining an active life in Indiana."

To My Friends in the Fifth Congressional District:Will you join me in returning our country to prosperity? While there is a lot of negativity about our federal government and the political games that are being played in Washington, I believe we are poised to bring this country back to greatness. The formula is simple: True Conservative Values and Real Leadership.
Recently, I announced my bid for the U.S. House of Representatives here in Indiana's 5th Congressional District. I entered this race after being approached by several Hoosiers, like me, that are disillusioned by career politicians that seem to be focused more on their reelection than listening to and helping the people in our communities, private industry, and small businesses. As an answer to that call, I have stepped forward in a willingness to serve my community, state, and country.
I firmly believe that it is not too late to bring our economy back to greatness. But we need leaders in Washington that are willing to make difficult decisions that will benefit our children, and their children. I do not want my children to suffer under a failing economy, unwarranted government regulations, and excessive tax rates. I want to return the power in this country to the people by shrinking the federal government and empowering the states as our Constitution directs. It's time for the federal government to stop overreaching, and the time is Right Now.
Please join us in making the difference. Your support is extremely valuable in making the changes that are desperately needed. There are many way to get involved. While financial donations are necessary to run an effective campaign and we would appreciate that assistance, your support by telling your neighbors, putting up a yard sign, hosting a small coffee with friends, or joining us at community events is just as important.
Please contact our office at 317-537-1705, by email at tfoster@LugarforCongress.com, or visit our website at www.LugarforCongress.com. I believe the way to win our future back is to do it together, and be on the ground and meeting with voters. I want to look you in the eye, shake your hand, and hear your concerns and desires for Indiana and this country. Your willingness to help me in this endeavor will truly open the door and provide us a seat at the table in Washingon.
Thank you for your support. I look forward to working with you throughout this campaign and in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Jack Lugar

Citing his concern that Congress has refused to make the tough decisions to protect this country and return it to prosperity Jack Lugar formally announced his candidacy for Congress in Indiana's 5th Congressional District. Lugar announced his decision at an event surrounded by family, friends, and his wife of nearly 20 years in the home of local Camel, IN residents earlier this week. Lugar believes that home gatherings, where he can hear and address the concerns of Indiana residents in a more intimate forum, provide him with a greater understanding of the changes Indiana voters are demanding.
"I want to return our country to prosperity, to rebuild the infrastructure, allow more incentives for jobs to be created in America, repeal ObamaCare, improve our health care system, and reduce the burden on the working family," said Lugar. "I was approached to run for Congress and knew that I could no longer sit back and wait for our current leadership to do their job. Instead, it was time for me to step up and do my part to resolve the economic crisis in this country right now."
"I will not let Washington change me, as others have. Many seem to leave their values and common sense at the front doors of Congress," said Lugar. "At home, I was taught that when families run low on money, they stop spending. They don't go out to eat, go out to the movies, or spend money on the latest gadgets. Families tighten their belts, pinch pennies, and find ways to increase income. I believe that is exactly what the government should do. A smaller government and focused use of resources is a better government."
"We have seen elected officials change their positions on key issues as it suits their own interests. Whether it is saying they are strong on defense on the one hand, and then taking donations from questionable foreign sources - or claiming to be fiscally conservative and then voting to bail out Wall Street instead of families, it is all unacceptable," said Lugar. "Being a man of my word is of the utmost importance to me."
About Jack Lugar
Jack Lugar, a native Hoosier and active member of the community, was raised in Indianapolis in a hard working, middle class family where he was taught the importance of financial responsibility, integrity, hard work ethic, standing up for his principles, and accountability. Like many local residents, Jack is concerned about the current direction of our nation and would like to see our country return to prosperity right now. He believes that our leaders have failed to listen to the American public and have changed their positions on key issues as it suits their own interests. He is running for Congress because he feels the district's current representation in the House of Representatives is out of touch with local voters' good Hoosier common sense and concerns.
