- GE was 100 years old when Jack took over. It has always been a leader in management, exeuctive and professional development. Welch inherited a GREAT company and enhanced its stockholder value, but he was not the innovator of GE executive leadership development...Bill Rothschild, Author of the comprehensive history of GE...including the Immelt era.
