Jack Morris is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. He played 18 years in the Majors and won 4 World Series Championships. His most memorable moment of his career was pitching a 10 inning shutout against Atlanta to win game 7 of the 1991 world series and win the championship for Minnesota.

Pitched a 10 inning shutout 1-0 victory during game 7 of the 1991 World Series against the John Smolts and the Atlanta Braves, to win the World Series for his team, the Minnesota Twins.

A Look at Jack Morris 

After attending Brigham Young University, Jack Morris was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 5th round of the 1976 draft. He first got his chance to pitch in the Tiger's starting rotation in 1979 and was able to record a 17-7 record with a 3.29 ERA. Those numbers secured Jack as the ace of the Detroit Tigers.

From 1980 to 19 83 Morris recorded respectable numbers but it was in 1984 that he had one of the best years of his career including his no-hitter he threw against the Chicago White Sox. He finished the year with 19 wins and a 3.60 era. That year he helped push Detroit into the post season and won 2 games during the World Series to help Detroit win the championship.

In 1986 Jack won 21 games but fell short of winning the Cy Young award to Roger Clemens of the Boston Red Sox. With 162 wins during the 1980's Jack morris was the winningest of that decade.

in 1991 Jack Morris signed a 1 year contact with the Minnesota Twins. That year he recorded 18 wins and posted a 3.43 era to help lead the Twins to the post season. It was during the World Series that year that Morris had his most memorable moment. at the age of 36 years old he pitched 10 shutout innings in game seven of the World Series against Atlanta and won the game 1-0. That performance has gone down as one of the most memorable performances in the history of the World Series.

in 1992 Jack signed with the Toronto Blue Jays and recorded 21 wins with Toronto. He became the first Blue Jay to have a 20-win season. Toronto would go on to make the post season and eventually win the World Series. It was the 3rd World Series Championship for Jack Morris.

During his career Jack Morris set a record for starting pitchers by making 14 consecutive opening day starts. Jack Morris was also a 5 time All-Star and won the MVP of the 1991 World Series.

John Scott "Jack" Morris (born May 16, 1955, in St. Paul, Minnesota) is a former Major League Baseball right-handed starting pitcher. He played in 18 big league seasons between 1977 and 1994, mainly for the Detroit Tigers, and won 254 games throughout his career. Armed with a fastball, slider and devastating splitter, Morris was a five-time All-Star (1981, 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1991).
