Jack's Mannequin

Jack's Mannequin started as a solo side project for Andrew McMahon, former frontman of contemporary rock group Something Corporate. He had decided to branch off musically and write an album of his own. "I wasn't really trying to get away from Something Corporate or get away from anything in particular. I just had a lot of really personal thoughts and wanted to put them down."

McMahon was soon diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia, but this proved only a minor setback to the talented musician. He was still able to release his first album under Jack's Mannequin, "Everything In Transit," and kept in touch with fans through an online blog.

Andrew McMahon has said that he enjoys the creative freedom that he is able to explore with Jack's Mannequin. Each song tells a story, incorporating McMahon's life experiences with poetic lyrics that people can sing along to. Strangely, many of the darker themed songs from "Everything In Transit" could almost be said to foreshadow McMahon's cancer only a few months later.

With a new album on the way, the members of Jack's Mannequin are in high spirits. "I would say the whole thing is just a big experiment ... this record sounds completely different from Everything in Transit. This record, if there's any constant theme it's just about how you can get sort of knocked down, get back up again and find the hope in similar difficult situations."
