North, South, East or West - Home is where the heart is!

Talk about an exciting life of many changes so far, and still more to look forward to - how great is that?

How amazing was it to have been born in Uganda in 1966, before the time of Idi Amin, when this was a place that could feed the world. Then having the chance to spend time in Tanzania where she was blessed with getting a younger sister in her family. Not content with living in 2 of 3 East African Countries, she was then blessed with living in Kenya for 10 years, where she enjoyed her formative schooling.

Imagine having sleeepovers on a huge tea plantation, or parties at a friends house who's family orphaned sick wild animals - and being able to help out with baby rhinos, or get chased by an ostrich round a field!! Talk about fun times. Holidays meant day long drives down dusty roads to spend time at the coast in Watamu (just outside Malindi). It was 'normal' to stop along the way to let giraffe, elephants, etc. etc. etc. cross the road - or watch them by the side of the road as you drove along. It truly was a blessed start to life.

Having to leave was the biggest wrench in a so far perfect life. Unfortunately, there was no schooling to speak of in Nigeria, so it meant boarding school. "Oh No - How Awful!" I hear you saying.... Absolutly Not. After the first term's settling in and adjusting to life without mum and dad, I loved my school. The friends I made there, are still my friends today.

Talk about fairytales - this 'african offspring' ended up in a boarding school that was a REAL castle. Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales (known also as 'Lowther College', to be exact - and the next best years of her life. Unfortunately, the school had to be closed, and there came the transition from an all girl's boarding school, to an all boy's boarding school (apart from girls in sixth form). Luckily, O'levels were taken the year Lowther closed - so there was no disruption to studies. A'levels were taken at Wrekin College in Telford, Shropshire - now a successful co-ed boarding school, and both were a source of some amazing friendships that are still surviving and being rekindled today.

University was never an option - too scary a thought, being amongst all those people out in the real world. It had been a sheltered life to this point, so a 6-month intensive P/A (executive secretary) course was taken at St. Godric's, Hamstead Heath in London (at the time many British Embassy Offices around the world were sourcing their Executive Secretary material from there!).

By the age of 19, Jacqui was working for an amazing salary in Abu Dhabi, UAE (where her family had moved to 5 years previously after Nigeria). By the age of 21, Jacqui had a savings plan, a house of her own in UK, a great job, a great car and a great guy. Life was good.

Marriage was at the age of 26, and - being Jacqui - took place in Kenya. Friends and family all attended a week's safari, the wedding, and a week's honeymoon on the coast (where childhood holidays used to be). It was just the best time ever.

Work then took a back burner when a little boy was born in 1994, followed by a little girl in 1996. Life in Abu Dhabi came to it's natural end as (being born outside UK herself, and 3rd generation births ouside UK not automatically receiving UK Passports) it was decided the second child would be born in UK. Getting the first child registered at the British Embassy, in Abu Dhabi, was complicated (to say the least), and the process was best not repeated.

Home, then, was an old Pub/Forge in a rural village south of Norwich, in East Anglia. When it was bought it had no plumbing, heating or inside toilet!! It did have a 1-acre field attached to it that was great for growing veg, keeping chickens, ducks etc. and also lambs.

A period of 5 years went by, and itchy feet set in. An opportunity in the Caribbean came up, and off we all went to live in the Turks & Caicos, BWI. Talk about 'living on an Island'. There were no real 'shops' to speak of. There was a supermarket that sold groceries imported from Florida. Apart from that - any clothes, shoes, accessories, electronics etc. that were needed, were put on a list to be bought next time anyone went 'off-island'. After an initial period of adjustment, this basic lifestyle became a blessing. There was no TV, newspapers etc. to get all bothered about what was happening in the rest of the world. That also meant there was no 'advertising/marketing hype' to brainwash the kids (or us!). Life was simple, but great. Days were filled with sun, sea and beach - and what beaches (rated in the top 10 in the world).!!.

Unfortunately, a personal crisis and breakdown in September 2006, meant being shipped to Spain to spend time with parents (having retired there from Abu Dhabi) and various psychiatrists. The marriage broke down, and Jacqui and the two kids moved back to UK to live in her parents house there whilst life was re-evaluated and stabilized again.

"Mahatma Gandhi -

"Be the change you want to see in the world.""

Lucky ME! A New Beginning!!

I see this as the beginning of the rest of my life....

Still with me ...???

It's 2008.. Jacqui arrived in UK in January 2007 with 3 suitcases and 2 children (aged 10 and 12). She's now in her own house, with her own car. The children are achieving amazing results at school having had to adjust from being in a school of 75 pupils in total.... to 75 pupils in their Yeargroup??!! Obviously we had our up and downs settling in to a new lifestyle and family culture, but it has been exciting making new friends too.

I ran the Liverpool half marathon last March in 2.00hrs and also the London marathon last April in 4.30hrs. Next "kick out of the comfort zone" was a skydive in Hawaii. I have made it a point of trying to get in touch with as many old friends as possible - for great friends are the backbone and foundation upon which to build a wonderful life. This process in itself, has been the best part.

The last two years have not been easy, but by the same token, they have been a stepping stone to the person and place I am at today. It has made me realise that you only get one shot at life..... and there is always something different waiting for you round the next corner. Sometimes it is what you expect... other times it isn't... but always something different to experience. I see a fabulous and fulfilled life ahead, in every aspect, and I'm loving the joy and delights of this gift, as the wrapping is slowly opened and unfolded to reveal some true delights.

The Past is past, the future will be what it is... but the Present is exactly that - treat it as the gift it is! You never know what life might give you to unwrap?!

How do I attract success into my life?

The Law of Attraction is :

"I attract to my life whatever I give my attention, energy and focus to, whether positive or negative."

Whether it's a positive or negative vibration (thought) you send out, the Law of Attraction will give you more of the same.

To know whether you are sending out a positive or negative vibration, simply take a look at the results you're getting in that area of your life. They are a perfect reflection of what you are vibrating.

(Michael Losier - Law of Attraction)

Don't Forget To Set Your Goals..

Not have a goal is like sitting in the back seat of the car, just waiting for someone to get in the driver's seat and take you to wherever they might be going!

Choose your own destination, and get there when you want, the route you want!

My house when it was being built in the Turks & Caicos, BWI

What makes me tick?

A little bit of where I've been, where I am and where I'm going!

Affirmations and Goal Setting

Where there is a will - there is a way. We already have all we need to succeed within us - we just have to focus like a laser beam on what we WANT, and refuse to give any energy to what we DON'T WANT.
