OMG! Well, Hello Folks. I AM Back From an Odyssey-Like Vacation.

OMG, and kudos to those of you who are road-warriors and know about long-distance traveling and jet lag.

Some of you already know that I did GET to take a much-needed vacation. Me and my "traveling companion" ventured to Athens, Greece for a couple of days and then hopped on down to Crete.

At the moment, I am channeling the experience upon arrival in Athens. We opted to try the Metro. May I strongly suggest, if you are thinking of such a vacation, and traveling on the Metro once you have arrived and are still sleepy ... PLEASE do NOT put your wallet in your back pocket ... or an iPhone in your side pocket. Nuff said! We were greeted by a group of pickpockets who took all our cash and the iPhone too.

Good news? When they departed the next stop on the Metro, they handed BACK the wallet to my "traveling companion" ... minus the cash BUT still holding ALL those credit cards.

Look forward to a new Greek lens once I recover from a fried brain and jet lag.

Thanks seriously to those of you who have stopped by whilst I was away. I hope to be catching my breathe on Squidoo too soon.

Oh Julie, I'm sorry you had that experience on the Metro! I'm jealous, I've always wanted to see Greece. Can't wait for the lens.

Welcome back Julie and sorry for the bad experience you had in the metro. I hope the rest of the vacation was pure fun - at least the weather should have been fine there as well, as we still have up to 30 degrees the last days.

Well, I was THINKING about you! It was an activity-filled type of vacation. Pretty fabulous to be able to walk the Acropolis -- got lots of pictures of that and the other sites. Found that I really liked the cheese pie for dessert. Was expecting something like cheesecake, but it looked like a crepe instead. Yes, the weather was much warmer than I packed for -- but delightful ... raining on the final day. Oh, over 800 pictures to download from my camera! Hugs.

Boo to pickpockets. Yay to you. Really can't wait for the lens! In a line at the Uffizi in Florence, I stopped a pickpocket who was on his way in to the back pocket of the guy ahead of me in line. Glad you got the credit cards. More glad you had a great vacation.

Yes indeed BOO to those pickpockets! Several people whom we met while touring Athens and Greece said that THOSE pickpockets on the Athens Metro are NOT Greeks but perhaps Romanians or Bulgarians. That's an extra BOO when you consider that I am rather a "brand ambassador" for Romania, Bulgaria and everything Eastern European. So, perhaps topicable in nature, but surely heart-breaking in reality. Hugs!
