LOTD : Jaguar Julie Lens of the Day

Ranked #2,307 in Squidoo Community, #186,484 overall

Which lenses of Jaguar Julie's are LOTD i.e. lenses of the day? And how can YOU have a LOTD?

Well, thanks for dropping by my lens that showcases my 4 LOTDs -- lenses of the day. Yes, I've been honored on 4 separate occasions to have a lens of the day. Those have come over some 5 years of being a member of Squidoo and authoring over 810 lenses! Squidoo lensmasters like stats and ratios ... so that translates to one lens of the day per >202 lenses made. I was thinking one per year would be a logical milestone, so there must be another LOTD coming up soon! HIGH FIVE FOLKS.

You know, life really isn't about competition, my friends! Too many times people put the emphasis on competing with each other. It's really not about competition and it really shouldn't be about competition. Worrying about that next guy isn't healthy you know? You should be putting the emphasis on being the best that you can be. Let's celebrate YOU and being your absolute best. Writing from the heart; writing from personal experience; writing about YOUR passions. Let's celebrate the power of Squidoo. Oh, me? Yep, that's what I'm doing. That and more!

My very first LOTD came well before I was a Giant Squid or member of the Giant Squid 100 Club! So, it is possible to get a LOTD as a newbie. I love Squidoo and have loved this place since March 2006. With all the social networking platforms and TMI, that's an eternity in internet time. For those who know me through my various Squidoo lenses, you've probably heard that I came to Squidoo through BzzAgent!

Perhaps you have joined a private group or maybe more than one hoping to benefit from ratings exchanges and depending upon your group members to nominate your lenses for different awards. Are you being the best that YOU can be? Do you feel good about yourself? Are you making a point of targeting ex team members for one reason or another. Stop, take a moment and reflect. Stepping on others is no way to get to the top. Oh, maybe you might get a lens of the day nomination, but at what cost, I ask? Be a kind person. You will reap what you sow ... in the end. And, in the end ... we are all DEAD. But, I believe in angels and connecting with my spiritual side ... "I'll be back!"

LOTD #2 :: the FIRST Lensography?

Yes, my lensography is the first lensography to earn the humble honor of LOTD. The week that I won was followed by other cool lensmaster's lensographies winning LOTDs!

Thank you Squidoo and all my readers, fans, and supporters!

March 7, 2008 :: Jaguar Julie Lensography

My favorite kinds of lenses are the ones we at Squidoo never imagined people making--and the ones that wind up spreading through the community faster than the beer runs out on St. Patricks Day.

I don't remember who made the first Lensography lens, but what a cool way to set up your own Squidoo Hall of Fame. It's kind of like a resume that ate its Wheaties.

Shortly after the first one appeared, there were 10 more. And 10 more. And now hundreds of our top lensmasters have Lensographies to highlight and annotate their bodies of work here on Squidoo.

I'll be featuring a few of them this week. For starters, check out Jaguar Julie's Lensography. She's got 303 lenses (303!!), and this page is not only a neat way to categorize some of those... it's also a stunning testament to the whole Giant Squids program. When quality AND quantity intersect, you've got something pretty remarkable on your hands. Jaguar Julie is the consummate Giant: curious, eager to experiment with new tools, passionate and gracious. --Posted March 11th, 2008 by Megan Casey.

LOTD #1 :: A migraine headache

I waited 1 year before I created this lens as I wanted to be sure to have all my facts and present an accurate story.

June 8, 2006 :: To Catch A Thief

Julie first came to Squidoo through an experiment we did with BzzAgent (inviting their volunteer word-of-mouth agents to make lenses about their favorite things).

Since then she has created dozens of really fascinating perspectives on a unique range of interests.

One such lens (in addition to her Polka Dots lens and one on Goulash--yes, Goulash!) is today's Lens of the Day: To Catch A Thief.

I'll let the lens intro tell you what this one's about:

"In June 2005, I was the victim of identity theft and credit card fraud that put my world into a tizzy for quite some time. Unless this has happened to you, you just can't imagine what a headache it can be with all the steps you have to take to clear up the mess...In this lens, I hope to give you a clue to what you can do if it happens to you. I will give you tips on what worked for me "To Catch a Thief" in a very short period of time."

I hope no one will ever need this lens, but when you do, I'm betting you'll be grateful to Julie for sharing! --Posted June 8th, 2006 by Megan Casey.

Check out To Catch a Thief in under 40 days!

OMG, I sure hope I don't need this again ...

You know, if this happens to me again ... not only will I know what to do, but I may just have to grab my frying pan and go after the bad guys!

I submitted these for LOTD

BUT, they were NOT accepted ...

Keep plugging away at your lenses, improving and if you feel you have a winner, submit those that you think are fantastic. I personally gave up a really LONG time ago submitting ANY of my own lenses, but opted to submit other lensmasters' lenses. I'm happy to say that I have seen those lenses featured as LOTD. And, additionally, that those I nominated for purple stars have gotten their purple stars -- anonymously nominated! ;)

How'd that lens get selected LOTD???

OLD NEWS: "Every weekday (or nearly that) Squidoo's Editor in Chief, Megan Casey, highlights a lens that stands out from the crowd, a lens that is unique in topic, approach, personality, tools or timing. Or, you know, just a lens that made her guffaw a little." Now I do believe Kimberly has taken this over!

Footnote: LOTD

If you write passionately about something that is meaningful to you, you are more apt to have a LOTD.

Need to let off a little steam these days?

Or, want to hoot and holler 'cause you got that LOTD???

Are your fingers plum worn to the bone typing away at those lenses of yours? Want to have a LOTD? Trust me, it can happen to you! Work on being original, having great content, add some unique images, be creative! Don't give up! When you least expect it ... it will happen.
