Disney's Jake and the Never Land Pirates on Disney Junior
Jake and the Never Land Pirates is a Disney Junior Original Production geared towards 2 - 7 year old children. The show first aired on February 14, 2011 - the same day that "Playhouse Disney" officially became "Disney Junior". The animated children's program is about Jake and crew of kids pirates looking for treasure in Neverland while trying to outwit Captain Hook and Mr. Smee . Jake and the Neverland Pirates is loosely inspired by Disney's Peter Pan but Captain Hook and Mr. Smee are the only characters from the movie that are in the show. The show encourages children to respond and interact with the stories in the same way they do with shows like "Dora the Explorer" or "Blue's Clues". There are two 11-minute adventures in each half hour program. The animation is colorful, the mild slapstick humor is age-appropriate, the music is cute, and they even manage to incorporate some low key educational aspects into the series. Like most of Disney's children's programming, teamwork and being a good friend is encouraged.

Regular Characters:
Jake - the leader of the pirates; he has a wooden sword that Peter Pan gave to him. Voiced by Colin Ford.
Izzy - Izzy is the only girl in the crew. The fairies of Never Land gave her a small bag of pixie dust but this is only to be used in the case of an emergency. Izzy is voiced by by Madison Pettis.
Cubby - He is the youngest member of the group and carries that map. He's frequently says, "Aw, coconuts!" . Cubby is voiced by Jonathan Morgan Heit
Skully (a green parrot) - He uses his ability to fly to keep a watch out for Captain Hook. Skully is voiced by David Arquette.
Captain Hook - just as in Peter Pan, Hook tries to cause trouble to Jake and the Never Land Pirates. He's cheating, pirate ways contrast with Jake and the Crew's principles of fair play and doing the right thing. Capt. Hook is voiced by Corey Burton.
Mr. Smee - voiced by Jeff Bennett - is Captain Hook's first mate and companion.
Sharkey - voiced by Loren Hoskins
Bones - performed by Kevin Hendrickson
Tick-Tock the Crocodile - Years ago, this hungry crocodile who at Capt. Hook"s left hand when it was cut off by Peter Pan in a sword fight. At some point, he also swallowed an alarm clock and the tick-tock of the clock alerts Captain Hook to the Croc's attempts to eat the rest of him.

Gold doubloons on Jake and the Never Land Pirates
Problem solving is another important element of Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Whenever Jake and his pirate crew solve a pirate problem, gold doubloons (gold coins) appear on the screen and are collected. At the end of the episode, they sing this song:
"Way hey, well done crew
Everyone knew just what to do
Way hey, with help from you
It's time to count our gold doubloons"
The coins collected in during the episode and are counted and added to the team treasure chest.

About the Jake and the Neverland Pirates Theme Song and Music
Pirate Music for Kids by Kevin Hendrickson and Loren Hoskins
Disney's Jake and the Never Land Pirates has a great theme song and some really fun pirate music that was written by Kevin Hendrickson and Loren Hoskins, from Portland Oregon. These two talented guys were first hired to create original music for the series but, as the project progressed, it seemed only logical to make them a part of the show. The characters "Bones" and "Sharkey" are inspired by Hendrickson and Hoskins; in fact, Sharkey is voiced by Loren Hoskin, though the animated "Bones" is voiced by Jeff Bennett. The duo also perform a live-action segment during each show and they will will serve as real-life ambassadors for "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" making in-person appearances as Sharky and Bones.
